🤩 Last night I had the pleasure of delivering an online talk to the wonderful Hitsona Global Member Community. It was a pleasure to share insights into how we can train our minds just like our bodies to work for us rather than against us.💪🧠

✨A huge thank you to everyone who came along. As a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, I love helping people understand how small shifts in thinking can create big, positive changes.✨

✨If your organisation, workplace, school or other group would like to hear my ‘Brain Power’ talk, then please do get in touch. ✨

🤩 Looking forward to more sessions like this in the future!

🧠 Did you know your brain thinks in pictures? 🖼️ It’s true!

Neuroscience shows that your brain processes images 60,000 times faster than words. That’s why visualising your goals, dreams, and even solutions to challenges can have such a powerful impact on your life.

When you vividly imagine a positive outcome, your brain lights up, giving you the same dose of happy chemicals as if it’s already happening because it cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined.

This isn’t just “wishful thinking”, it’s rewiring your neural pathways to help you feel more motivated, focused, and confident in making that vision a reality.

So why not put your brain’s visual superpower to good use? Whether it’s imagining the calm you crave, the confidence you need, or reaching the goal you’re striving for, creating mental pictures is like giving your brain a sneak peek of success.

What’s the first picture you’d paint for your future? 🎨✨

🌟 Are You Ready for a New Chapter? 🌟

Our life is full of chapters. Sometimes we find ourselves at the end of a chapter, fearful of what’s to come, or we might be desperate to make a change and start a new chapter, but it feels daunting and overwhelming. We end up stagnating, getting in a rut, or procrastinating, preventing ourselves from taking the steps we need to bring about positive change.

Our brains don’t like change, they rebel against doing things a different way, so often we end up just doing what we’ve always done because it feels comfortable and familiar.

Whether you’re ready to embrace change, break free from old habits, or finally chase that dream you’ve been holding onto, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help.

Through a blend of neuroscience and hypnosis, I can help you:
✨ Reduce stress and anxiety
✨ Overcome fears or phobias
✨ Manage habits
✨ Improve sleep and beat insomnia
✨ Boost confidence and self-esteem
✨ Navigate life transitions or big decisions
✨ Enhance focus and motivation

If this resonates with you, please get in contact and let’s have a chat. My office is based in Bridgnorth although online sessions are just as effective. Free initial consultation with zero pressure.

🤔 Myth: "Christmas Has to Be Perfect."
👎 Busted: It really doesn’t!
🎁 Truth: Perfection is overrated! 😁

✨ We all know that Christmas is so much more than matching baubles and the latest gadgets, but we can get sucked in by all the glitzy shiny advertising that seems to constantly stream in front of us.

✨ Of course, there are those among us that are super organised and thrive on the perfect finishing touches, BUT if that’s not you and chasing that illusion of perfection just leaves you tearing your hair out with stress – then accept you just don’t have to!

🧠 Your brain will still give you a wonderful dose of feel-good hormones even if the tree is a bit wonky or your Christmas carrots are lacking honey glazing! It thrives on oxytocin (the bonding hormone) from shared laughter and togetherness, and simple joys and moments.

✨ So let go of the perfect Christmas and your brain will thank you for it!✨🎁

✨ Wishing you all a wonderfully imperfect perfect Christmas - Merry Christmas! 🎄☺️🎄

🤔 Myth: "I'm just an unlucky person."
👎 Busted: No, you’re really not!
🎁 Truth: It all comes down to your perspective…

…and your brain's ability to filter and focus on what matters to you.

🧠 There is an amazing part of your brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) which plays a big role in this! The RAS acts like a sieve, filtering in all the information from the world around you. But it only filters in the things that are of interest to you. It notices the things that match your beliefs. If you think you're unlucky, it highlights negative events while ignoring the good ones, confirming to your brain that you want to see more of the same, so it filters out everything else - all the good stuff! 😟

⚡️ If you think you're unlucky, your brain will look for the evidence that matches that belief! ⚡️

✨ It takes a change in mindset to make the shift, but thanks to neuroplasticity you CAN retrain your brain to filter in the opportunities and positive experiences. This is a large part of what I do as a hypnotherapist. Solution-focused hypnotherapy can really help with shifting your mindset so do get in touch if you would like to find out a little more.

✨ Meantime, next time you feel “unlucky,” remember that your brain is in control. You decide what you pay attention. Work on switching your focus, change your beliefs, and watch how your RAS begins to show you the opportunities you’ve been missing!

🤔 Myth: “Hypnotherapy is Mind Control.”
👎 Busted: That’s a big fat NO!
🎁 Truth: Hypnotherapy is NOT a magic trick.

Hypnosis in therapy looks nothing like stage hypnosis – sorry there is no entertainment! Hypnotherapy isn’t about someone else taking over your mind, it’s about empowering you to take control of your thoughts, which in turn modifies your habits, behaviours and emotions.

Think of it like this:

🌟 It’s Relaxing, Not Controlling:
A hypnotherapist helps you reach a deeply relaxed calm, focused state, like when you’re daydreaming or totally immersed in a good book.

🌟 Your Subconscious, Your Rules:
In this state of awareness, your brain is open to positive suggestions, helping you rewire all those unhelpful habits or thoughts, boost confidence or reduce stress and anxiety.

🌟 You’re in Charge:
The hypnotherapist is the guide but you decide the direction – it’s a team effort!

🧠 So, no one’s controlling your mind. It’s all about giving you the tools to unlock the incredible power of your own brain to create positive change! ✨

🤔 Myth: "We Only Use 10% of Our Brains"
👎 Busted: Nope!
🎁 Truth: Actually we use 100%

🧠 Your brain is the ultimate multitasker, always buzzing with activity. Brain imaging shows that nearly every part of your brain works together, with different areas lighting up based on what you're doing - whether you're talking, solving problems, simply breathing or full on Christmas shopping!

Did you know that even something as simple as waving hello involves an impressive team effort:
⚡️Motor Cortex: Plans the movement.
⚡️Cerebellum: Keeps it smooth and steady.
⚡️Occipital Lobe: Helps you see who you’re waving at.
⚡️Parietal Lobe: Guides your hand so you don’t wave at the wrong person!

And that’s just for a quick wave! Incredible isn't it? Imagine the coordination behind everything else you do!
Your brain is always hard at work, seamlessly managing big and small tasks to keep life running smoothly. So next time you hear the 10% myth, remember - you’re using your whole brain every single day, I reckon it's the best power tool you have! 🧠✨

🤔 Myth: ‘Not everyone dreams’
👎 Busted: Oh yes, they do!
🎁 Truth: Everyone dreams…yes, even you!

🧠 The catch? Not everyone remembers their dreams. Research shows that dreaming happens for everyone with normal sleep patterns, it’s a natural part of the sleep cycle. Think of dreams as your brain’s secret workshop, where it processes emotions, stores memories, and brews up creative magic while you snooze. 🎨

✨Why Everyone Dreams:

🌙 Your Brain NEVER Sleeps
Dreams occur during REM sleep, when your brain is highly active. This stage happens multiple times a night for everyone, regardless of whether they remember their dreams.

🌙 Processing Emotions & Memories
Dreams are like your brain’s way of sorting through emotions, storing memories, and sometimes solving problems – much like napping, it’s a sleep superpower!

🌙 Why You Might Forget
Not remembering doesn’t mean you didn’t dream. Light sleepers or those waking during REM are more likely to recall their dreams, while others forget because they wake up in deeper sleep stages.

So, whether you recall them or not, your brain is busy creating its own dreamland every night - your personal gift box of ideas and emotions! 🎅💭

🤔 Myth: ‘Napping is Lazy’
👎 Busted: Far from it!
🎁 Truth: Napping equals brain maintenance!

🧠 A short nap gives your brain the recharge it needs to work at its best. Neuroscience shows that during a quick snooze your brain is getting a powerful boost in several key areas:

✨ Memory Boost: Naps help strengthen memory making new information easier to remember.
✨ Boost creativity & Problem-Solving: Naps spark creativity by forming new connections, leading to fresh insights and "aha!" moments.
✨ Reduce Stress: Naps lower stress hormones and calm the stress response, helping you feel more relaxed and in control.
✨ Improve Focus: A quick nap boosts your prefrontal cortex (the thinking part of your brain), helping you to stay sharp and make better decisions.
✨ Heart Health: Naps can improve heart health by reducing stress and giving your body a break.

🧠 Top tip: Keep your nap to 10–20 minutes for a boost without the grogginess.

Next time someone calls naps "lazy," tell them that you are just working on your brain-boosting, stress-reducing SUPERPOWERS! Happy Napping!✨

🤔 Myth: "Willpower changes habits."
👎 Busted: Not exactly!
🎁 Truth: Willpower isn’t what creates lasting change...

Why? We can all relate to times when we’ve started the day or week with the best of intentions, feeling fired up and energised - but as the hours or days drift by our energy and willpower fades away and we go back to old habits with promises like... ‘ ‘I’ll start again tomorrow, or Monday...or may be in the new year!’ This leads to frustration, disappointment, guilt, and zero confidence in our ability to change.

🧠 Simply “wanting” to change isn’t enough! You need to form and strengthen new neural pathways in your brain. Each time you practice a new habit, your brain strengthens the connections between neurons, making the habit easier over time. It’s like walking a new path in the woods - the more you walk it, the clearer the trail becomes. 😊

✨ Repetition is Key: Practicing a new behaviour over and over strengthens connections in the brain, making it easier over time.
✨ Visualise: Picture yourself achieving your goal. The brain cannot tell the difference between real and imagined so even just thinking about how it would look and feel if you achieved your new habit will work in the same way as doing it.
✨ Small Steps Add Up: Focus on one small change at a time. The hippocampus which stores all your patterns of behaviour and habits, thrives on gradual rewiring.

True habit change happens when you rewire the brain through consistent actions, not by sheer force of will.
Work with your brain, not against it. 🧠✨
