11 Definite benefits of reducing your toxic load
1. Feel more alive
Toxins in the body make you feel sluggish. When you allow the body to release these toxins, you start to feel more energised and more vivacious in every way – even if you thought your get-up-and-go had got up and gone!
2. Experience better health
Supporting your body to get rid of stored toxins may lead to a reduced risk of chronic illness and a general improvement of health conditions and symptoms.
4. Improved digestion
Taking some of the specific foods that stress the body (coincidentally the same foods many people are intolerant to) soothes the digestive system. Many people find bloating and other troublesome digestive symptoms reduce.
5. Radiant skin
As an elimination organ, the skin will reflect the internal condition of the body. Detoxification helps clear skin conditions.

How do you know if you need to detox?
In the 21st century, more than at any other time in history, you are bombarded with toxins. In addition to environmental pollution, there are many toxins in the food you eat: including pesticides and even hormones in intensively farmed meats. Your body is dealing with substances for which it wasn’t designed. Add to that, your body also generates toxic waste through normal processes like digesting food and creating energy.
If you find you have allergies or food intolerances, frequent headaches, sensitivity to chemicals and environmental pollutants, chronic digestive problems, muscle aches and inflammatory conditions, you may have exceeded your body’s capacity to detoxify.
Some people are more susceptible than others to toxicity, and this largely depends on the levels of toxins you’ve been exposed to, the kinds of helpful (or otherwise) nutrients in the food you eat as well as your genetic disposition. Some people are simply better detoxifiers than others!

Want to give your body a break from all that junk you ate over Christmas but already feeling like it's too much to tackle in January?

In a 2013 study, researchers found that – in rats – Oreo cookies were just as addictive as co***ne.

Going sugar free isn’t something you need to do on your own. The whole family can take part. The secret here is in how you position it. There’s no sense announcing a blanket sugar ban. That’s cue for a rebellion. But through the challenge, I’ll be sharing some cunning tricks that I use with my own family to help the whole thing go smoothly.
And here’s why you’ll want to get the kids involved…
British children are some of biggest consumers of sugar in Europe. They’re pretty much eating their body weight in sugar each year.
A study by scientists at Birmingham University found that children are consuming an average of 75g of sugar a day (the equivalent of 19 teaspoons). That’s four times their recommended daily allowance. Small wonder that sugar has been singled out as the biggest contributing factor in the national obesity crisis.
It’s also blamed for a rise of nearly a quarter in the number of children under four having to have one or more of their milk teeth extracted. Sugar creates imbalances in energy that can contribute to erratic behaviour and mood changes and paves the way towards type 2 diabetes.
I’m not telling you this to scare you. Think of it as a wake-up call.

Going sugar free is the quickest way to lose weight and feel full of energy. While it’s true, a little of what you fancy does you good, most of us have way too much of the sweet stuff in our lives. Are you addicted to sugar? How many of these resonate with you?

You consume certain foods even if you are not hungry because of cravings.
You worry about cutting down on certain foods.
