After the last few years experiencing the Covid pandemic we have all learnt that our health is our wealth.

When you feel ill and exhausted you don't have the energy to do anything.

I spent years doing this and constantly beating myself up for not having enough will power to stick to my healthier intentions.
When I began to look into this I realised that it wasn't my fault! Our brains LOVE security. They LOVE automatic and ingrained behaviour. They love activities that activate it's reward system.
So...my afternoon cup of tea and biscuit was ticking every box for my brain...and it wasn't keen to support me to change.This is why it can be so difficult to break unhealthy habits.

However I know from personal experience that it's easy to say, but really hard to achieve.

I would have one bad day and think that I had ruined everything, so I would give up and feel like a failure.

My health journey hasn't always been easy, in fact I'll be honest with you it was...tricky.
I knew I needed to make some changes to my lifestyle to make it healthier, so that I could build up my immune system, feel fitter, feel fabulous and lose weight.
The problem was I didn't know where to start! There was so much information out there, I couldn't see the wood for the trees! 🌳

I wanted to give up before I had even started, I just felt overwhelmed. All I wanted was some simple, sustainable actions that would become new habits in my healthier lifestyle. 😵‍💫

So...I made it my mission to educate myself and find out what successful people did when they wanted to introduce some healthier habits into their life.

I came up with three habits that ultimately began to have a positive impact on my lifestyle...and now I want to share them with you.

If you have spent years of your life yo-yo dieting, here is a truth that you NEED to hear.

It’s not your fault. You are not a failure.

If you are like me every Monday sees you back to square one starting your healthy eating plan…AGAIN. Every week would be the same. I would restrict what I ate throughout the day, thinking I was being ‘healthy’ only to get home absolutely starving. I then spent the rest of the evening snacking.

I spent nearly two decades on this rollercoaster, losing weight only to put it all back on and more. What I realised I was doing was telling myself that I was useless, that I had no willpower to stick to anything.

That was not the TRUTH. The truth is DIETS DON’T WORK.

Most of the diets I followed severely restricted my eating, which left my body lacking vital vitamins and minerals and badly out of balance.

The levels of my hunger hormone ghrelin went through the roof, and I found myself constantly feeling hungry and thinking about food. 🍰🍪

Losing weight and regaining it repeatedly is not good for your metabolism and it also has a huge negative impact on your mental health.

The 3 -simple steps that I followed when I began my own health and weight loss journey enabled me to learn what to eat to feed and nourish my body, develop healthy habits, and begin to work on my mindset around food.

Taking this holistic approach allowed me to connect all the pieces of the puzzle up to make my health and weight loss journey successful.

When the weather is warm make sure that you keep well hydrated🫗

Our body is made up of about 60% water. In warm weather if we lose even 2% of of our body's water content we can become dehydrated.

Being dehydrated can lead to:

🔷 Fatigue

🔷 Lack of motivation

🔷Changes to the way your body regulates temperature.

🔷Impaired brain function.

🔷Impaired mood.

🔷Memory problems.

Staying well hydrated can also lead to WEIGHT LOSS. Sometimes we can confuse being thirsty for feeling hungry. Drinking more water can help to keep us feeling full, so we don't crave unhealthy snacks.

Drinking more water is one of the best things we can do for our health, so start increasing the amount you drink TODAY!

It's easy to get caught up in a cycle of seeing someone on social media who looks thinner than you are and then starting a negative spiral of self-talk in your head.

"Why don't I look that thin, I hardly eat anything?"

" I wish my stomach looked that flat."

"I look so heavy compared to them."

This negative spiral is just exhausting and unhelpful. All it does is make you feel worse and the reality might not be all that it seems in the picture that you saw.

The person in the picture might have been where you are now 12 months ago. They made some simple changes, built some healthy habits into their daily routine and now feel great.

It could also be that although they look healthy on the outside, inside they are fat!😲

Visceral fat that is stored around our organs can be dangerous for our health. It can release chemical toxins into your bloodstream which can cause cardiovascular problems.

So, all might not be quite as it seems with the person you were comparing yourself to in the picture.

If we add some healthy habits into our daily eating patterns then we really reduce the risk of visceral fat building up around our organs. That is why it so important to prioritise your health, over trying to look really thin.
