Inner Peace Hatha Yoga I teach Hatha Yoga for adults in and around Rugby, Warwickshire. I've been teaching Hatha Yoga for over 20 years. I enjoy teaching a variety of levels.

I teach adults in Rugby, Warwickshire as well as worldwide via online teaching. My experience includes 3 years of teaching Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs (YHLB) - gentle, effective, evidenced-based 12 week courses for people with chronic or recurring back pain and 8 years of Birthlight pregnancy yoga.

The Happy Baby Pose (Ananda Balasana) offers a gentle yet effective way to release tension in the back and hips, but it’s essential to get the alignment right. One of the most common mistakes people make is not having their shins perpendicular to the floor, which limits the stretch. The biceps should gently pull the legs down while maintaining a firm grip on the feet. If done correctly, this will enhance the stretch in your hips and groin area.

The tailbone plays a vital role in this pose. It should remain grounded, helping maintain the curve of your lower back. If the tailbone lifts, you’re likely misaligning the spine and losing the therapeutic benefits. Focus on keeping your thighs parallel to the floor, which engages the legs and creates the correct depth of stretch. This small adjustment will make all the difference in how deeply you can relax and benefit from this pose.

While it may seem like a simple stretch, it plays an important role in releasing accumulated tension in the lower back and hips. Keep your chest open and face relaxed as you breathe deeply into the stretch. Over time, you’ll notice increased flexibility and a significant reduction in lower back discomfort. ✨🧘‍♂️

Stress is a silent enemy that sneaks into our lives without us even realizing its full impact.
