Our newly formed Women Only group are putting together our Christmas Fayre on Saturday 13 December, and they’re throwing themselves into it with the sort of energy that makes the rest of us pretend we’re more organised than we are.

To help them build something special, we’re looking for:
• Raffle prizes from local businesses or individuals
• Cakes, bakes, biscuits and anything that makes a room smell like December
• Makers and artists who’d like a table on the day
• Creators who are happy for us to sell their work on their behalf, with a small commission helping us keep the doors open through winter

This Fayre will help support both our Men Only and Women Only groups at Rodger & Steve’s Place — warm spaces where people come to breathe, talk, and feel human again.

If you can offer something, big or small, please get in touch. The Women Only team are determined to make this a proper community day… and we’d like to give them every chance to pull it off.

We’ve just had an hour with Trevor from The Pop Up Soup Kitchen, sharing coffee and catching up.

Rodger & Steve’s Place and The Pop Up Soup Kitchen have a steady, no-nonsense partnership, the kind built on trust, respect, and years of turning up for people when it matters.

Trevor is out most nights checking on people, refilling flasks and hot water bottles, and keeping an eye on anyone sleeping rough. We talked about how we could strengthen that work, and agreed that having access to Rodger & Steve’s Place would make a real difference.

Trevor has accepted the offer, and he now has 24-hour access to our facilities whenever he needs them.

He’s also brought in warm clothing, hats, gloves, sleeping bags and other essentials so we can keep supporting The Pop Up Soup Kitchen in their work.

This joined-up approach to community care means that those sleeping out get help at night and also know they have a warm, safe place to come to during the day.

Tuesday and we were out and about in Ryde and Newport, this was the start of the recent cold blast and in Dorset and other parts od the country SWEP Protocol had been announced we were out to those we know, carrying extra blankets and thermos flasks of hot water to refill hot water bottles if required... Should you see a rough sleeper out there you can help them by reporting there location to Streetlink or message us .. an automated reply will give you the link immediately.... ( please never announce a location on social media ) .

- It was Pumkin Soup Monday at Rodger & Steve’s. It was a brilliant afternoon, with us all joining in to make two massive pans of Pumpkin Soup with ingredients supplied by our service users and The Pop Up Soup Kitchen.

Apart from spending an hour or two together, we will fill the freezers with hearty soup to share with those who need it most. &stevesplace

Mondays have their own quiet rhythm at Rodger & Steve’s Place. The doors open to a warm room, the kettle doing its usual morning murmur, and the simple reassurance that whoever walks in is welcomed exactly as they are.

The Women Only session runs from nine until midday. It’s calm, unhurried, and gives you a few hours to breathe, talk, create, or simply sit without expectation. These mornings have become a small sanctuary at the start of the week, a gentle reset after the weekend that can seem so long, for anyone who needs one. Men Only runs through until four this afternoon.

Lunch is on at half twelve. Sausage and lentil stew — hearty, simple food shared with good company, shared around a table where conversation has a place to wander.

We all come together in that easy way that happens here all the time, friendships forming in small, ordinary moments.

If today feels heavy or scattered or just a bit too much, or you’re shrugging off the void of the weekend, there’s space here for you today.
