A huge thank you to Tony for taking the time to chat with us about bowel cancer as part of our Vox Plops series. It’s not always an easy topic to talk about, but these conversations are so important.

By speaking openly and raising awareness of the symptoms, we can help more people recognise the signs early - and remember, early detection saves lives.

Symptoms of bowel cancer can include:

💩Bleeding from your bottom or blood in your poo

💩A persistent change in bowel habits (e.g. needing to poo more often, looser stools)

💩A lump or pain in your tummy

💩Unexplained weight loss

💩Extreme tiredness or breathlessness for no obvious reason

Let’s keep the conversation going. If you notice something that doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it - talk to your GP.

🚽 A huge thank you to Councillor Paul Fuller for being such a great sport and getting involved in our latest Vox Plops video! 🙌

It might sound a bit cheeky, but we're serious about spreading an important, potentially life-saving message: talking about poo could save lives.

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, but when caught early, it’s highly treatable. That’s why open, honest conversations – like the one Paul has helped us start – really matter.

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t sit on it – speak to your GP.

👉 Keep an eye out for more short Vox Plops films coming soon. They’re real, relatable and could help spark life-saving chats.

Please watch, share, and get talking. Because yes – your loo could save you. ❤️

In this edition of Vox Plops, George kindly shares his personal story of bowel cancer – and his message is clear:

Don’t wait. Get checked out.

We’re so grateful to George for speaking openly about his experience. His honesty could help others spot the signs early and seek help.

💡 Remember, early diagnosis saves lives.
If something doesn’t feel right – changes in toilet habits, blood in your poo, unexplained weight loss or fatigue – speak to your GP.

🚽 A huge thank you to Simon from Newport for being such a good sport and taking a seat on one of our loos to test his knowledge about bowel cancer! 🙌🧻

It’s all part of our campaign to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease:

✅Blood in your poo or on your toilet paper
✅Change in your bowel habits
✅Frequent pain and/or lump in your tummy
✅Feeling a lot more tired than usual
✅Feeling breathless
✅Losing weight when you haven't been trying to

It's most likely not bowel cancer but it's much better to get it checked, so if you spot these signs contact your GP practice as early detection saves lives.

🎤💩 Introducing: Vox Plops – A quiz that gets to the bottom of bowel cancer 💩🎤

We know that talking about poo isn’t everyone’s idea of polite conversation. But when it comes to bowel cancer, a bit of toilet talk could actually save lives.

That’s why we’ve launched Vox Plops - a light-hearted quiz with a serious purpose: to get people talking about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer.

We’re delighted to kick things off with our first Vox Plop guest: Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West. Richard’s been a brilliant sport, helping us flush away the stigma by getting stuck into a few bowel-based questions.

🧻 Richard said it best:
"I appreciate toilet humour isn’t for everyone – but it’s a light-hearted way of sharing a serious message. There shouldn’t be any shame associated with talking about the big C just because it might be in your bowel."

So, what should you look out for?

Know the Symptoms of Bowel Cancer:
✅ A change in your usual bowel habits
✅ Bleeding from your bottom or blood in your poo
✅ Unexplained weight loss
✅ A persistent pain or lump in your tummy
✅ Feeling more tired or breathless than usual

Bowel cancer is the UK’s fourth most common cancer — but it’s also one of the most treatable if caught early. That’s why it’s so important to know what to look out for and speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
