For a while now the universe has been telling me to slow down.

But I didn’t listen.

I felt so impatient to keep moving forward, growing, making progress. I was desperate to not feel so stuck.

So I kept pushing and striving, thinking if I could just keep making progress in one area of my life I would feel better.

But the universe kept putting obstacles in my way. Nothing was working out the way I had planned or hoped. After battling against these challenges for some time I finally admitted to myself I was exhausted and surrendered to needing to slow down and rest.

Ironically this was just before Smithy became unwell and had surgery, which has now absolutely forced both of us to rest!

Over the past week as I’ve leant into rest, I’ve felt a deep sense of reassurance that this is the right decision. As hard as it is to accept standing still for a while, I know that I need to build my inner strength before I move forward again.

So for now I choose to focus on taking care of myself and my dog, knowing that this precious time is not wasted, it is essential, the foundations for the growth that is yet to come.

For now, I practice a skill that doesn’t come naturally: patience 🤣

Do you believe in:

✨Oxygen?

✨Electricity?

✨UV rays?

✨Germs?

✨Wi-fi?

In Western science & technology there are so many things we believe in but can’t see.

So why do we find it so hard to believe in the energy inside us all - like the Chakra system?

Perhaps because we haven’t seen what it can do for us!

Join me next term in my Yoga for Everyone classes to find out - link in bio for more info 😉

Save your space this week to get term discount and pay from just £10 for a 75 minute class!

One of the things I love most about teaching yoga is seeing the way my students take their practice off the yoga mat/chair and into their everyday life 😍

As we finish our term of Mindfulness today, it’s wonderful looking back on these beautiful reflections from my students, and I’m hopeful that these are positive changes that will stay with them way beyond the end of term!

Are you looking for a yoga class that goes further than just the physical practice and helps you overcome the struggles in your life?

Join us next term for Balance Mind, Body & Soul starting from 3 November Online & in Cardiff.

Last week was one of the toughest weeks of my life, seeing my beloved dog Smithy lose the use of his back legs, and have to go through emergency spinal surgery.

Luckily he’s doing really well and was walking again from the day of surgery which seems like a miracle!

But it’s been an emotional rollercoaster and I couldn’t have got through it without yoga - though I haven’t rolled out my yoga mat once!

Here’s how yoga has supported me:

💙 Pranayama (breath practices) to help me stay calm & steady when I was feeling fearful, and enabling me to make some difficult decisions under pressure

💙 Isvara Pranidhana (surrender to the divine) to help me realise that there was only so much I could control, and the rest I had to leave to the universe to decide

💙 Awareness of my thoughts & emotions, and recognising when I needed to take a few minutes out for myself, even if it was just to cry in the bathroom!

💙 Shaking the stress, tension, anger & fear out of my body so I could let it go and be the best version of myself to look after Smithy (also did some shadow boxing 🤣)

💙 Taking a few standing or sitting stretches to ease out tension in my body & slow my breathing down

💙 chanting soothing mantras and meditating to remind me of the bigger picture, and that suffering & death is a natural part of the universe we live in

It’s gonna be a long road to recovery for Smithy so I’m so glad that yoga is right here by my side.

Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me through this week, especially my students who have sent so much love 🥰

Yoga and me

My first yoga experience was nearly 20 years ago, when I was struggling with anxiety and panic attacks at university. I was blown away by the effects of a few simple yoga breathing exercises, and I’ve practised them regularly ever since to help conquer my fears.

More recently yoga helped me recover from a slipped disc, knee injury and misplaced rib. As a sporty person, being injured was tough mentally and physically. Yoga was the one thing I could always turn to, even if it was just a few gentle stretches and some meditation.

I’ve seen the healing power of yoga on mind and body and I’m passionate about sharing this experience with as many people as possible. You don’t need to be flexible or do crazy poses to enjoy yoga. There’s a yoga for everyone and my goal is to help you find yours.
