What is Dru Yoga and What Does It Involve?
Dru Yoga is a gentle, therapeutic flowing style of yoga that focuses on creating harmony between the body, mind, and emotions. The word "Dru" comes from a Sanskrit term meaning still point place of calm and stability within ourselves, even when life feels busy or stressful.
Dru Yoga is suitable for people of all ages and abilities because it emphasizes softness, awareness, and safety rather than force or extreme flexibility. The movements are smooth and purposeful, helping the body release tension and build strength in a balanced way. c
What Does Dru Yoga Involve?
Dru Yoga includes several key elements:
• Soft flowing movements: These are gentle sequences that improve flexibility, posture, and coordination while reducing physical tension.
• Activation of energy points: Specific movements and postures help stimulate the body's energy system, supporting vitality and emotional balance.
• Breathing techniques (Pranayama): Controlled breathing helps calm the nervous system, improve focus, and increase energy levels.
• Relaxation: Guided relaxation allows the body and mind to fully rest, helping to reduce stress and promote healing.
• Meditation and mindfulness: Dru Yoga encourages awareness of thoughts and emotions, helping practitioners feel more centered and peaceful.
• Positive focus: Many Dru Yoga practices include affirmations or visualizations to support emotional wellbeing and positive thinking.
