Christmas is coming!

Don’t forget to order your repeat prescription.

It usually takes 5–7 working days for your medicines to be ready to collect – but remember to order early and allow more time ahead of bank holidays.

Ordering online using the NHS App is the safest and easiest way to order your regular medicines.

One in three people over 65 who live at home will fall at least once this year; for those over 80 the risk rises to one in two. The key advice is:

• If you do fall – stay calm. Take a moment to check yourself before moving.
• If you can get up safely: roll onto your side, push up to hands and knees, shuffle to a sturdy chair or sofa, place one foot flat and slowly stand.
• If you cannot get up: use your phone or pendant alarm immediately, shout or bang to attract attention, keep warm, and move a little every half hour to protect circulation

Remember, icy, snowy, or paths covered in leaves during winter can make slips trips and falls more likely.

With colder temperatures, it’s important to dress warmly and wear shoes with good grip. Gloves can help protect your hands if you do slip.

Also, remember to keep your driveway and paths clear of ice and snow.

Northern Care Alliance NHS Group

From April 2016, Salford Royal provided leadership and operational support to The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (which currently runs The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, Rochdale Infirmary and North Manchester General Hospital) following its CQC Inspection in February 2016.

This arrangement was formalised under a management agreement in April 2017, and paved the way for the establishment of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group. From the 1st April 2017, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA) was launched, bringing together over 17,000 staff, 2000 beds and serving a population of over 1 million.

With an operating budget of £1.3bn, our new Alliance provides the benefits of scale but delivers this locally through multiple hospital sites and local healthcare services. Four Care Organisations for Oldham, Bury/Rochdale, North Manchester and Salford are responsible for delivering safe, high quality and reliable care to the local communities they serve.
