We’re celebrating the next generation of nursing and midwifery talent at the NCA! 🎉
A huge welcome to the 115 newly qualified nurses and midwives who have recently joined us, marking an exciting new chapter in their professional careers. 🌟
This fantastic milestone was captured with a group photo earlier this month. Every newly registered healthcare practitioner undertakes a structured training programme, designed to provide support, guidance and hands-on development as they build confidence and grow into their new roles.
And the celebrations don’t stop there. We’ll be welcoming another 82 newly qualified nurses and midwives to the Trust over the coming weeks as they begin their own inspiring journeys within the NHS. 💙

If you’re writing a job application or preparing to apply for one of our roles, it might be tempting to use AI to help you get started. We don’t discourage the use of AI at this stage, but we do take action if it’s misused.
You can find guidance on what we expect from candidates, and what makes a strong application, on our careers website.
Some of our roles may only be open for a week, so it’s important to read this guidance early to make sure you don’t miss the chance to make a great first impression with our teams.
Our Learning and Development team have supported over 1,000 colleagues to achieve their Care Certificate.
The Care Certificate is a 12-week nationally recognised programme of study which is mandatory for all new colleagues who provide care and are not regulated by a professional body.
In these weeks, individuals attend a face-to-face taught session and then complete e-learning, workbooks, and practical assessments in order to achieve competencies required for certification.
Healthcare assistants and support workers new to the Trust are automatically enrolled if they have not already completed the certificate. This provides a structured introduction to the organisation, as well as a valuable development opportunity - both for those new to care and for more experienced colleagues who may not have previously gained a formal qualification.
A recent learner said: “I’d heard about the Care Certificate training before but didn’t really know much detail about it until today. Lots of learning seems daunting but I know investing time now will help with any care career in future. The training is really appreciated and I’m positive I can do a really great job at work.”
By consistently delivering the Care Certificate programme, we ensure our workforce is trained in essential skills to deliver safe, effective, and consistent care for patients.
With learner satisfaction rates of over 99%, our facilitators are committed to further embedding the programme and supporting colleagues new to their roles into 2026.
If you have any questions about the NCA Care Certificate programme, please contact: apprenticeships@nca.nhs.uk

We’ve recently welcomed 12 new volunteer Cultural Ambassadors (CAs) to the NCA through our refreshed programme!
These amazing colleagues are helping to make our recruitment and workplace culture more inclusive by supporting interview panels and disciplinary hearings with empathy, insight and lived experience.
Temi, infection prevention and control nurse, said: "I wanted to help promote diversity and inclusion at the NCA. The CA training was eye-opening and showed how important it is to advocate for both staff and patients, ensuring everyone has an equitable experience."
Beverley, integrated directorate support manager, shared: "I became a CA because of my own experiences of being treated differently due to my skin colour. Cultural Ambassadors play a vital role in breaking down stereotypes and fostering empathy. I feel proud to volunteer in this role at the NCA."
We’re currently recruiting more volunteer CAs to expand our programme and provide valuable perspectives on our recruitment and HR processes.
If you are new to the Trust and passionate about making a difference, then becoming a CA could be a great option for you.

Knowing how to use AI tools like ChatGPT, CoPilot and Google Gemini in your job application is important.
We understand that many people are using these programmes to enhance the quality of their submission and present themselves in the best light.
However, overuse or misuse of AI can have the opposite effect and may harm your chances of securing a role.
To learn more about what we expect from candidates, please visit the AI guidance page on our careers website.
Curious about what makes a candidate stand out in our recruitment process? Phill, one of our experienced dietetic managers, shares his insights on what he looks for during interviews:
“I am not looking for rehearsed answers - I want to meet "you". Let your personality and passion shine through. Genuine responses help me see how you’ll fit into the team and what your future development may look like.”
You can find more practical tips on how to showcase your strengths and succeed in our selection process on our careers website.
Working in the NHS can help you plan for your financial future.
As part of the NHS Pension Scheme, you have options to increase your benefits and retire flexibly, in a way that suits your plans.
For example, partial retirement allows you to take up to 100% of your pension benefits while continuing to work and build further membership in the scheme. This means you can draw on your pension to supplement your income ahead of full retirement.
If planning for the future matters to you, consider taking your next steps with the NHS.
Are you looking to use your engineering skills in healthcare?
