As part of our celebration of Salford’s Centenary in 2026, we want to profile and champion the people and also the businesses that have made Salford great. So, if know a local hero or if you’re part of a business or organisation that has been part of of the city many years, that we should be championing, please get in touch.

Great offer!

Great offer!

Every Thursday, as part of our Men’s Mental Health Project, we host a drop-in session at MK Gym in Wardley.

This space is here to:
🔸 Raise awareness about su***de
🔸 Bring comfort and support to those affected by it
🔸 Offer a place to talk, listen, or just be

Su***de is one of the leading causes of death among young men. You are not a statistic. You matter, and you don’t have to carry things on your own 💛

No need to book – just come as you are.
We are here for you 💛

A huge shout out to creative precision hair cutter and stylist Annabelle Totty who answered our calls for a barber's chair! 💈💇‍♂

Vidal Sassoon-educated Annabelle led the barbering courses at our charity's training and learning centre and kindly made the donation after learning we needed this to get 'Minds and Manes' off the ground.

Please note: homelessness charity Emmaus Salford's new barber's shop is only open for people in need and with experience of homelessness at the moment.

Pictured: our talking barber, Malcolm, and Annabelle's donated barber's chair.

To ask for a call back about an appointment, you can register your details at https://emmaus.org.uk/salford/shop/minds-and-manes/

Thank you 💚

Did you know we open on Christmas Day?

We provide a free Christmas dinner, entertainment, a raffle and the main man brings gifts. No-one needs to spend Christmas alone.

To book a place, please call into the centre.

Shout out to Malcolm at Emmaus Salford👏

Over the past few months, we’ve been developing a partnership with Emmaus as part of the Elevate Salford program with Salford CVS, and we’re excited that Malcolm is looking to run his own men’s group at the charity in the new year with our support.

A fantastic example of collaboration between our organisations—well done Malcolm, we’re all behind you!

Breaking the Silence: A Panel on Men’s Health and Wellbeing

A free online event exploring how we can support men to open up about their health.

19/11/2025

Today, on International Men’s Day, we’re shining a light on something that too often stays in the dark: men's health and su***de.

Every man deserves to feel heard, valued, and supported. If you’re struggling, you’re not alone. Reaching out is a sign of strength - not weakness.

To help us all recognise the signs and know how to support someone in crisis, the Zero Su***de Alliance offers a free, quick, and potentially life-saving online training course.

Take the training - visit the link in the comments. A few minutes could make all the difference.

Our Mission

Talk About It Mate has grown from a Meetup group where a handful of people would meet to a community of people forming friendships and supporting each other with their mental health. We run various events and we are here if you need to contact us. We can signpost you in the right direction for your needs.

I do this because I care and because I love it. Through my own openness, honesty and integrity, I know I am making a difference to peoples lives, however small. I aim to make this my career and help in different ways. I am no better than anyone out there and I have my own issues to deal with, yet I genuinely think that as this group grows it can enhance the wellbeing of many.
