Friday facts 🩷

It is so incredibly important for us to know our b***s, how they look , how they feel and what is normal for us

Breast cancer can present with a variety of signs and symptoms, though it is important to note that not all women will experience noticeable changes in the early stages.

One of the most common symptoms is a lump or mass in the breast. This lump may feel firm or hard and is usually painless, though some can be tender. Not all lumps are cancerous, but any new or unusual lump should be assessed and examined by a healthcare provider.

Other symptoms may include changes in the size or shape of the breast. A breast that appears swollen or significantly different from the other could indicate an underlying issue. In some cases, the skin on the breast may become dimpled or have a texture resembling an orange peel (called peau d’orange).

Ni**le changes can also be an early warning sign. This includes ni**le inversion (where the ni**le turns inward), discharge that is not breast milk (especially if bloody), or changes in the appearance of the ni**le or surrounding skin.

Breast pain, while less commonly associated with breast cancer, can occur in some cases.

Other more subtle signs may include redness or scaling of the skin on the breast or ni**le, or swelling / lumps in the armpit area, which may indicate the spread of cancer to nearby lymph nodes.

If you are concerned at all, please do give us a call or book an appointment online

Why are regular blood tests so important?🩸💉
⬇️⬇️⬇️

Blood tests play a fundamental part in preventive medicine and early diagnosis. They offer valuable insights into your body’s functioning, helping detect abnormalities, deficiencies, and diseases at an early stage. Regular blood testing can lead to early intervention, significantly improving treatment outcomes and overall well-being.

Understanding the busy schedules of our patients, we offer blood tests that can be done on the same day, on their own or as part of a GP visit. This prompt service is not just about convenience; it’s about reducing anxiety and stress associated with your health concerns.

We believe that quality healthcare should be accessible. Therefore, we offer our blood tests at extremely competitive prices. We also ensure a fast turnaround, usually by the next day, allowing you to quickly take charge of your health decisions.

❤️ It’s world heart day ❤️

As GPs, we see every day just how important it is to look after your heart health. Your heart works tirelessly for you — pumping blood, oxygen and nutrients around your body. Keeping it healthy is one of the best investments you can make in your future.

Why it matters

Heart disease is still one of the leading causes of illness and death in the UK — but many risk factors are preventable. Small lifestyle changes really do add up.

✅ Top tips for a healthy heart:

• Eat a balanced diet rich in fruit, veg, wholegrains and healthy fats.

• Stay active — aim for at least 150 minutes of exercise a week.

• Don’t smoke — quitting is the single best thing you can do for your heart.

• Keep alcohol in moderation.

• Manage stress and prioritise sleep.

• 💉 Stay on top of blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes checks.

At The Grosvenor Practice, we’re here to support you with personalised heart health checks, advice and treatment.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition where your immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, causing pain, swelling, and stiffness. Around 400,000 people in the UK live with RA.

Signs & Symptoms to look out for:

• Stiffness (especially in the morning)
• Pain, swelling & warmth in joints
(often hands, wrists, or feet)
• Fatigue or generally feeling unwell
• Symmetrical symptoms (both sides
of the body)

How your GP can help:

• Early referral to a rheumatologist
(specialist care makes a big
difference)
• Prescribing medicines to control
inflammation and pain
• Regular check-ups to monitor your
health and adjust treatment
• Support with lifestyle changes like
exercise, diet, and stopping smoking
• Emotional support and signposting to
support groups

Living well with RA:

✅ Keep moving: gentle exercise keeps
joints flexible
✅ Eat a balanced diet rich in omega-3s
and anti-inflammatory foods
✅ Manage stress and rest when you
need to
✅ Work with your GP to review
treatment regularly

💬 Remember: Early diagnosis and treatment can help slow down RA and protect your joints. If you notice persistent joint pain or stiffness, book an appointment with your GP.

💊 Why do GPs review repeat prescriptions?

If you’re on regular medication, you might wonder why we ask you to have a repeat prescription review. Here’s why it’s so important

1. To check it’s still right for you
Your health may change over time — and so can the best treatment. A review makes sure your medicine is still the safest and most effective option.

2. To monitor side effects
Even if you’ve been fine for years, some side effects can creep in slowly. Regular reviews help us spot problems early.

3. To avoid interactions
If you’ve started any new medicines, vitamins, or even herbal remedies, they could clash with your regular prescription.

4. To check doses
Sometimes doses need adjusting as you get older, if your weight changes, or if test results show something new (like kidney or liver function).

5. To make sure you don’t need extra checks
Some medicines require regular blood tests, blood pressure checks, or weight monitoring to keep you safe.

Repeat prescription reviews are about keeping you safe, healthy, and making sure your medicines are working as well as they should.

Do you have a review coming up? Don’t put it off – it’s all about looking after you.
