Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is one of the most misunderstood treatments we discuss with patients.
Let’s clear up a few myths:

⬇️⬇️⬇️

🔺”HRT isn’t safe.”

Modern HRT is much safer than many people think. For most women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause, the benefits outweigh the risks - especially for symptom relief and long-term health.

🔺 “It causes cancer.”

The link between HRT and breast cancer is often overstated. The increased risk (if present) is very small - and depends on the type of HRT, duration of use, and individual risk factors.
We always assess this with you personally.

🔺 “You have to put up with menopause.”

Menopause symptoms can significantly impact quality of life. You don’t have to ‘just cope’
HRT can relieve hot flushes, sleep issues, anxiety, joint pain and more.

🔺 “HRT is only for severe symptoms.”

Even mild but persistent symptoms can be treated if they affect your day-to-day life. HRT is about improving overall wellbeing, not just survival.

🔺 “You can’t take HRT if you’re older.”

Age alone isn’t a reason to avoid HRT - it depends on your individual health. In some cases, women over 60 can still benefit, especially with low-dose or transdermal options.

If you would like to consult one of our GP’s at The Grosvenor Practice to help you on your HRT journey please contact us for an appointment online

“Reducing stress could be the best thing you do for your health.”

Stress doesn’t just affect your mood — it impacts your entire body.

From raising your risk of Hypertension to worsening sleep and weakening your immune system, chronic stress can quietly affect your long-term health.

The good news? Small, consistent changes can make a real difference.

✔️ Better sleep
✔️ Improved heart health
✔️ Stronger immunity
✔️ More balanced mood

Your health is more than just physical — managing stress is a key part of preventative care.

April is stress awareness month, so we take this opportunity to raise awareness of the impact that stress has on our lives and try to make changes, no matter how big or small to minimise its power.

TIPS FOR MANAGING STRESS

• Practice mindfulness and mediation
• Engage in regular physical activity.
• Maintain a balanced diet and stay hydrated.
• Connect with friends and loved ones.
• Seek professional help when needed.

It is important that we acknowledge when we are feeling stressed, that we are able to reach out and ask for help to those around us

If you are experiencing a difficult time with stress, speaking to your GP can be a great start to finding help.

“It’s just part of being a woman.”

How many times have you heard that?

Severe period pain is not something you should have to live with—and it could be a sign of endometriosis.

At The Grosvenor Practice, we take your symptoms seriously. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth exploring.

Not all period pain is normal.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women—and many wait years for a diagnosis.

If your symptoms are impacting your daily life, it’s worth getting checked.

💛 You deserve to be heard
💛 You deserve answers
💛 You deserve proper care

During the past few winter months, with the cold and wind .. our skin can really suffer. For many people, they may suffer from mild cases of skin dryness. For others a common skin condition can cause them a lot of distress.

What is Eczema? (Atopic Dermatitis)

A chronic skin condition that causes dry, itchy, inflamed patches on the skin. It’s common in children but can affect people of all ages.

Causes :

➡️ Genetics: Family history of eczema, allergies, or asthma.

➡️ Triggers: Environmental allergens, stress, harsh soaps, or certain fabrics.

➡️ Immune Response: Overactive immune system reacting to irritants.

Treatment :

➡️ Moisturise Daily: Use fragrance-free creams or ointments.

➡️ Topical Medications

➡️ Avoid Triggers: Identify and minimize exposure to irritants.

➡️ Medications: Antihistamines for itching

➡️ Lifestyle: Use gentle, unscented soaps; take short, lukewarm baths; and wear soft, breathable fabrics.

When to See a Doctor regarding your skin :

🚩 Severe itching or pain disrupting daily life.
🚩 Signs of infection: redness, warmth, pus, or fever.
