Whether we like it or not, we’re now living in a digital world that is filled with distractions from morning to night.
The demands in the workplace are so huge that the days of going in and using a workplace as a community support group seems to be a thing of the past.
The trending desire to work from home more supported by many organisations is also resulting in an increased sense of distance and isolation where people feel more like numbers in a payroll rather than valued employee employees.
School for some people is a fabulous experience enriched by friendships and clubs and for others it’s a place of anxiety, isolation and fear.
And finally, our homes have become nuclear cells where each person goes to a room with either a TV, a laptop, a smart phone or iPad and we may connect to people in a digital sense but become isolated to the very people who care about us and lover us.
I bring to focus the reality for so many, they’re in a busy world full of connection. Many of us can’t cut through the noise and feel heard, or indeed be heard.
The old saying of a problem shared is a problem halved is as true today as it ever was.
Having an opportunity to talk through an experience, thoughts and ideas can allow us to get clarity and sometimes clear action that can resolve a problem or bring it to balance.
We would always recommend in the first instance you find somebody within your immediate circle, a family member or a good friend, a teacher or a boss but if you feel that there’s nobody to turn to and talk to then there are people waiting and willing to listen.
Breathing Space or Samaritans or indeed if it’s a more serious issue reaching out to charities like Megan’s Space to explore what help is available so that we can indeed be heard and be supported.
