🫀 As February approaches, I wanted to share this for CHD Month—something I never imagined I’d have to understand 🫀

I never planned to learn medicine.
I never expected to understand cardiology.
I didn’t choose to learn what CHD, VSD, ASD, valves, oxygen levels, medications, and surgeries mean.

I learned because my child’s life requires it.

Parents of children with congenital heart disease are forced to become fluent in things most people will never need to know—not out of interest, but out of necessity. Because knowing what to ask matters. Because reading the chart matters. Because sometimes, we are the last line of protection.

This isn’t a hobby or a personality trait.
This is learning for survival.

Every CHD parent carries a medical education they never asked for. ❤️‍🩹💙

Such a big milestone for Louie 💙 He’s currently trialling life without his feeding tube, and we’re really hoping it won’t need to be put back in. He still needs a tiny bit of oxygen, so he’s having regular sleep studies, but we couldn’t miss the chance to take a photo of him with no tapes on his face.

We’ve not seen Louie without tapes on his face for such a long time, so this moment meant absolutely everything. This is the day we’ve been dreaming of—seeing his whole little face at last—and even though it was only for a few minutes, it was the best feeling in the world. Look at those chubby cheeks and that cheeky smile 🥹💙💙

One whole year ago, we handed our boy over to the surgeons, not knowing the outcome — the longest, hardest day of our lives. 💙
Happy first heartaversary to our little warrior boy! 🫀
In just one year since your first OHS, you’ve shown more bravery than most do in a lifetime. We don’t know what the road ahead holds, but we know we’ll face every bit of it together. Our warrior, always. 🥰💙

💙 Lil Louie, Big Heart – Charity Ball (Interest Check) 💙
Following the incredible success of our recent fundraising efforts – including the Lil Louie, Big Heart Fundraiser Day on 23rd August 2025, and the charity bike ride – we are exploring the possibility of hosting a charity ball next year in support of the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF).
This event would be a formal evening designed to:
✨ Celebrate our community’s amazing support
✨ Raise vital funds for CHSF and children with congenital heart disease
✨ Honour Louie’s journey and the exceptional care he received
✨ Bring people together for an inspiring and meaningful night

Day 3: Bicester ➡️ Leicester 🚴‍♂️
A few sore bums and tired legs after yesterday’s epic adventure — off-road detours, farmers’ tracks, a fair share of punctures… oh, and just for good measure, the lads even ended up on a motorway! 🙈

Today we were joined by two more legends to keep the momentum rolling. 💪 Every mile is tough, but every mile is a huge achievement.

Keep going lads — you’re all doing absolutely amazing! 🎉💙💙
