If you have an appointment at The Villages Medical Practice to have your flu jab you will also be offered a Covid vaccination too, if you are eligible. You do not need to book your Covid vaccination through the National Booking site at a different venue - both jabs will be provided by the Villages.

Dr Guard will be greatly missed by patients at the Villages Medical Centre. The Villages PPG would like to thank him for his patience, friendliness and excellent medical skills. Good luck in retirement and the next exciting chapter. Kate Price

As most of you know, today is a sad day for all of us at The Villages Medical Centre as we say a fond farewell to Dr Aaron Guard, who is an exceptional GP and colleague. He is looking forward to retirement but we will miss him enormously and would like to thank him for everything he has done for The Villages and our patients over the past 8 years.

His shoes will be incredibly hard to fill but we are pleased to welcome two new GPs to the team - watch this space. For now though, bon voyage Dr Guard, have fun and thank you.

Please see message below from Dr Karen Nevin. Patients are requested to plan ahead and ask for their prescriptions in good time. The Boots pharmacy at the Medical Centre is extremely busy and will do their best to issue your prescription in good time.

Message from Dr Karen Nevin and Partners

A gentle reminder that we are unable to issue prescriptions as a drop-in service at the surgery.

Should you need medication, please leave your request with our reception team (either in person or via our website) and we will do our best to have the prescription processed for the end of the working day. Please note we are unable to take prescription requests over the phone.

As ever, we encourage patients to submit prescription requests when they have a 2 week supply remaining.

Thank you for your support and co-operation.

With the number of measles cases rising it is important that children are vaccinated - measles can be a very serious disease for some children.

Measles cases are rising in England.

Please contact us to arrange an MMR vaccine if your child has missed either of the 2 doses recommended.

The MMR vaccine is a safe and effective combined vaccine and protects against 3 serious illnesses:

- measles
- mumps
- rubella (German measles)

These highly infectious conditions can easily spread between unvaccinated people.

Getting vaccinated is important, as these conditions can also lead to serious problems including meningitis, hearing loss and problems during pregnancy.

FLU VACCINATION

This year there has been a higher than predicted demand for flu jabs for those aged 65 and over. Unfortunately this has led to the Villages Medical Centre has running out the vaccinations for this category. If you haven’t had your flu jab yet you can still get your jab from a pharmacy - Boots next door to the surgery is currently offering this service.

The Villages can still offer flu jabs to anyone who is eligible under 65 as this a different vaccine. They are also still offering Covid injections.

It’s been a busy week for the Villages PPG. Last week we had a stall at Ripley Farmers Market advising visitors of the need to keep hydrated and giving away bottles of water.

Tomorrow we will be supporting the Villages Medical Practice as they start running flu clinics - booked appointments only. If you are there for your flu jab come along and see us and enjoy a cup of tea, coffe and biscuits.

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
