VBAC vs. ELCS: Pros & Cons
VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)

Pros:
• Shorter recovery time
• Fewer surgical risks (no major abdominal surgery)
• Lower risk of complications in future pregnancies
• Earlier mobility and bonding after birth

Cons:
• Small risk of uterine rupture
• Not suitable for everyone
• May result in an emergency caesarean
• Requires appropriate medical support

ELCS (Elective Caesarean Section)
Pros:
• Planned and predictable birth
• Avoids labour-related risks
• Lower risk of uterine rupture
• Can feel emotionally reassuring for some

Cons:
• Longer recovery time
• Increased surgical risks (infection, bleeding)
• Higher risks in future pregnancies
• Delayed mobility and bonding for some

✨ Both VBAC and ELCS are valid birth choices. Informed decision-making, medical guidance, and personal preference all matter.

🌸 VBAC or ELCS? The choice is yours. 🌸
Every pregnancy and birth journey is unique — what matters most is what feels right for you and your family

💛 VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)
Can be empowering and allow for a shorter recovery
Gives your body a chance to birth vaginally again
Success rates in the UK: ~75% for one previous C-section, higher if you’ve had a vaginal birth before

💛 ELCS (Elective C-Section)
A planned, scheduled birth that can feel reassuring
Reduces some risks associated with labour
Gives certainty about timing and preparation

✨ Whatever path you choose is the right one.
There’s no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to birth. Your decision should be based on your body, your health, and what feels safest and most comfortable for you

“Why don’t you work on a birth centre?”

I love the adrenaline of the labour ward — the fast decisions, the skills, the intensity when it really matters.
But I also love bringing a birth centre mindset to spaces where it’s often missing.
I love creating a low-risk atmosphere for those considered high risk.
Because calm, confidence, and informed choice don’t disappear just because a label appears on your notes.
Hypnobirthing isn’t about denying risk — it’s about reducing fear, supporting physiology, and empowering people to feel safe wherever they birth

Your birth story isn’t graded. It’s yours. Pain relief choices don’t change the power, bravery, or beauty of how you brought your baby into the world 🤍

🌸 Reframing in Hypnobirthing is about shifting from:
“What if something goes wrong?” → “What if everything goes beautifully right?”
“I’m scared of the pain.” → “My body is strong and built for this.”
“I don’t know if I can.” → “I can, and I will.”

Just as Roger Bannister proved that limits are often illusions, you too can release the limits that fear and negativity place on your birth experience.
Your mind is that powerful. 💫

A very powerful tool in Hypnobirthing is the ability to reframe negative thoughts. This isn't about believing that if you put your mind to it your birth will go exactly how you envisioned, but instead creating space to allow for change and adapting to any curveballs your labour and birth may throw at you and managing it in a positive way 🤍

We can't control every aspect of our birth but we can control our mindset

👶 Let’s talk about your baby’s soft spot 💫
That gentle area on your baby’s head is called a fontanelle — and it’s completely normal! Babies are born with these soft spots to allow their skull bones to move and overlap during birth, making it easier for them to come into the world. 🌍
