Today is the shortest day of the year. The winter solstice has arrived. We are returning to the light, and we can look forward to the Spring. 🌱

As we roll towards the end of the week — and the end of another year of teaching at The Space — today feels like a moment to pause and breathe it all in.

Yoga reminds us that every practice has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Each one matters. Each one shapes us. As we near our final classes of the year (with our last class on Friday), it’s a beautiful time to honour the effort, commitment, and care that has shown up on the mat week after week.
Be proud of yourselves for your practice.

Let today’s practice be about presence rather than perfection. Move with awareness. Breathe with intention. And take a moment to feel grateful for what your body has carried you through this year — on and off the mat.

Thank you for being part of this journey at The Space.

Yoga for Men – Thursdays at 7.30pm

Thursday evening classes are dedicated to Men and are created to be welcoming, practical, and accessible. Whether you’re completely new to yoga or returning after a break, this class offers a supportive space to move, stretch, and unwind at the end of the day.

The practice focuses on:

Improving flexibility and joint mobility

Building strength and stability

Releasing tension in common problem areas such as hips, shoulders, and lower back

Supporting better posture, breathing, and relaxation

There’s no expectation to be bendy or experienced — everything is taught step by step, with options offered throughout. The emphasis is on feeling better in your body.

Each class is thoughtfully designed to build strength, flexibility, and inner calm through mindful movement and breathwork. Whether you’re seeking energizing flows, gentle restorative sessions, or guided meditations, there’s something here for everyone.
I also offer beginner courses, perfect for those new to yoga. Whether your goal is to improve fitness, gain strength and flexibility, or calm a busy mind, these courses provide a wonderful introduction to yoga.

What’s Covered in the Beginners Course?
• Fundamentals of yoga practice, including physical postures (asanas) and movement.
• Breathing techniques (pranayama) and their calming effects.
• An introduction to body locks (bandhas) and hand positions (mudras).
• Basic meditation techniques to help silence the mind.

Our Story

The Space is a dedicated well-being centre where you can find balance, harmony and energy renewal amidst the hectic bustle of everyday pressures and deadlines. We offer a range of complementary and holistic therapies, classes, private tuition, workshops, retreat days and treatments for the mind and body.

We offer yoga and Tai chi classes to suit all levels from complete beginner to mixed abilities and improvers. We teach empathy and compassion. while listening to your body and breath we encourage you to work within your own limits without force or strain. I know from personal experience that there is no better way to practise yoga than in nature with natural healing energy and the elements to support one’s practice, and the Space certainly offers this – you’ll be breathing fresh air and have lovely views of the surrounding countryside while still being in a comfortable studio.

The Space is set up on a site deep within the heart of the Blackmore vale in the community village of Motcombe, a quiet village a couple of miles north of Shaftesbury.
