🍂 Claire’s Monthly Walk at Millhouses Park 🌿

This month, Claire led our residents on a gentle stroll around Millhouses Park — a favourite spot for enjoying the fresh air and peaceful surroundings.

We spotted plenty of friendly dogs along the way, admired the autumn leaves starting to turn, and even caught sight of a heron standing gracefully in the stream 🐦🍁

Moments like these are a wonderful way for residents to stay active, connect with nature, and enjoy each other’s company in the great outdoors.

Ralph Shaw, the king of Ukelele came to perform for our residents this afternoon. His storytelling, singing and playing enthralled everyone. Lots of smiles and toes tapping and as you can see the cafe was full of residents. A wonderful way to end the week.

Yesterday afternoon, whilst activities were going on in the downstairs cafe, Community Wellness Services delivered another outstanding session encouraging residents to participate in some wonderful games that promote movement, coordination and maintain cognitive skills. Lots of fun, laughter and teamwork.

Then after dinner, residents sat down to play some games during our weekly Games Night and Get Together with Ellen.

Our celebration of cultures continued this week with a très délicieux afternoon hosted by Pierre, our Hospitality Supervisor — who brought a true taste of his homeland with his monthly Cheese & Wine Afternoon.

Residents sampled a range of classic French cheeses and wines, while Pierre shared his knowledge of flavour pairings and tasting notes. When he asked if anyone could detect the peppery tones in the red wine, one resident’s witty reply — “No, just smelly socks!” — had everyone laughing!

🎨 Celebrating Cultures Month – Spotlight on France 🇫🇷

This week at Outram Fields we’ve been celebrating France — home to our Hospitality Supervisor, Pierre, and to one of the world’s most famous artists, Vincent van Gogh. 🇫🇷

Van Gogh spent his most creative years in France, painting masterpieces like Sunflowers and Starry Night, which inspired our latest art session. Residents experimented with colour, texture and bold brushstrokes, creating their own interpretations while enjoying plenty of conversation (and a good cup of tea ☕).

🍪 A Weekend of Baking, Colouring, Ballroom Magic and Fury Friends at Outram Fields 💃✨

It’s been a relaxed and creative weekend here at Outram Fields, filled with simple pleasures:

• 🍪 Biscuit Baking – On Saturday morning, residents baked homemade biscuits. Head Chef Dean led a baking session where residents decorated freshly made buns with colourful icing and chocolate chips.

• 💃 Strictly Come Dancing – Saturday evening was all about Strictly! Residents gathered in the lounge to enjoy the sparkle and music.

• 🎨 Mindful Colouring – On Sunday morning, residents took part in French-themed mindful colouring as part of Cinnamon Care Collection’s Celebrating Cultures Month. A calm and creative way to start the day.

• 🎬 The Sound of Music – In the afternoon, residents settled down to watch the much-loved classic. A perfect, feel-good film to round off a cosy weekend.

🐶🐾The lovely Lottie (Emma our Senior Carers sausage dog) came in for cuddles and was lapping up all the attention.

🎶 A fabulous afternoon at Outram Fields as we welcomed back the wonderful Bev Brookes Entertainment! Residents were soon up on their feet (or tapping their toes!) jiving along to classics from Dire Straits, Dusty Springfield, Maxine Nightingale and many more.

Music always lifts the mood and brings back such happy memories — thank you, Bev, for another brilliant performance! 💃🕺🎤✨

🎉 Yesterday we celebrated a very special milestone as one of our lovely gentlemen turned 90! 🎂🎈 The day began with breakfast, balloons and gifts, followed by a surprise visit from old friends of Outram Fields in the afternoon.

🍁 Our café was full of life as residents and children came together for our intergenerational after-school club. From making autumn mobiles to colouring seasonal designs, it was lovely to see creativity and conversation shared across the generations. ✨

Community Wellness Services deliver a tai chi session every fortnight for our residents and is a firm favourite with everyone including our newest resident.

It’s low impact helps strengthens the muscles in the legs and core, improves ankle flexibility, and increases proprioception (the body's awareness of its position in space).

✨ A full day of activity at Outram Fields yesterday ✨ 🍁🍂🪾

Our morning began with some seasonal crafting – residents worked on colourful artwork to add to our autumn window display. It was a chance to be creative, enjoy conversation, and bring some bright shades of orange and red into the home.

In the afternoon, Community Wellness Services joined us for an energetic exercise session. From ball games to movement to music, it was great to see everyone joining in at their own pace and enjoying the sense of togetherness.

After dinner, the day wound down with a few rounds of dominoes – always a favourite. It’s not just about the game, but the companionship and light-hearted competition around the table.

A balance of creativity, movement, and sociable fun – just the way we like it here at Outram Fields.
