Last week, the Master & Mistress Cutler, Professor Keith Jackson & Gina Jackson, had the privilege of joining cadets from the HSY Army Cadet Force on the Eyes On, Hands On project, led by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). They joined the Deputy Lieutenant, Christopher Jewitt, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, and senior representatives from the Army Cadet Force.
This inspiring initiative marks a historical milestone as these cadets are the first under-18 volunteers formally accepted by CWGC. And HSY Army Cadet Force is the first youth organisation to be formally recognised for this important work.
The Master & Mistress Cutler met with the instructors and cadets who play a vital role in helping to maintain UK war graves. Through the CWGC's volunteer programme, these young people, along with other volunteers across the country, inspect and help maintain local war graves, ensuring they remain clean, cared for, and respectfully remembered.
It was a fantastic opportunity to witness the cadets commitment and the impact of their efforts. A huge well done to everyone involved in this meaningful project.
