Simple Self-Care doesn’t have to mean spa days or big routines.

It can be as gentle as tuning in to your senses and giving yourself small moments of kindness.

✨ Look at something nice — the sky, a photo, a flower.
☕ Smell something nice — coffee, perfume, fresh air.
🎶 Listen to something nice — your favourite song, the rain, a friend’s voice.
💛 Feel something nice — a soft jumper, warm blanket, sunlight on your skin.
🍫 Taste something nice — your morning brew, a square of chocolate, a comforting meal.

When life feels heavy, these tiny moments bring us back to the present.

When overwhelm hits, try these steps to help you feel a little steadier:
• Change your scenery, even a quick step outside or moving to another room can help
• Move your body, stretch, walk or dance
• Talk to a supportive friend or family member who really listens
• Watch a cute animal video (because who doesn’t need that dose of joy?)
• Take slow, deep breaths, really feel and notice the air moving in and out
• Write freely in your journal, draw about it, no rules, just let it flow
• Repeat simple, kind affirmations, remind yourself you’re enough and it’s okay to pause, this too will pass
• Use grounding: name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you taste
• Try a gentle walk in nature or around your neighbourhood
• Talk about it in therapy.
• Use mental health apps like Calm, Headspace
• Reach out to helplines like Samaritans (116 123) anytime you need to talk. Text Shout UK’s first and only 24/7 text service for anyone struggling with their mental health. Text ‘Shout’ to 85258 for free, confidential support
• Speak with your GP about how you’re feeling, they can help connect you with local support
• Look into local charities like Mind or Rethink Mental Illness for advice and peer support

You don’t have to manage overwhelm alone. Small steps and reaching out make a difference and you deserve that kindness.

6 Daily Reminders 🧡👇

Just ‘cause I’m struggling doesn’t mean I’m failing. We all have rough days, it’s part of being human. But if those struggles start to feel overwhelming or harder to manage, it’s okay to ask for support. You don’t have to do it alone.

Taking a break isn’t being lazy or giving up. It’s giving yourself permission to breathe and come back stronger.

Growth doesn’t only happen in the easy bits. Sometimes it’s happening quietly while you’re still figuring yourself out.

Giving your mind space and rest to recharge isn’t wasting time, it’s proper productive, that is.

I don’t have to keep up with anyone else’s pace. Life’s not a race, and my journey is mine to walk.

Saying no? It doesn’t make me undeserving. Setting boundaries is self-respect in action.

So today, if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, remember you’re doing just fine, exactly as you are.

A great little graphic from Journey to Wellness, because sometimes life feels overwhelming when we try to control things we actually can’t. Remembering what’s ours to manage and what isn’t can bring a sense of calm and clarity.

Worrying about what’s out of your hands only drains your energy. When you notice your mind slipping there, take a breath and remind yourself where your power truly lies: right here, right now.

Being kind to yourself in this moment might look like:
• Taking a long bath
• Eating a healthy meal
• Complimenting yourself
• Reading inspirational quotes
• Going for a walk
• Listening to upbeat music
• Meditating
• Making a playlist of your favorite songs
• Journaling
• Decluttering
• Volunteering
• Taking yourself out on a date
• Hugging a close friend—or giving yourself a big hug
• Reading a book
• Hanging out with a friend
• Asking for help
• Watching funny videos online
• Taking a technology break
• Telling someone you appreciate them
• Making your bed
• Stretching
• Reorganizing a room
• Creating a routine
And you maybe able to add so many more…

You have the power to choose kindness for yourself today. Where will you start?

And it can be helpful in the therapy room too, I think it’s a natural and important part of emotional healing. It allows the body to release built-up tension and helps regulate the nervous system, moving us from stress toward calm. Tears often mark a moment of true connection with our feelings, a step that supports deeper understanding and growth.

Crying and swearing are welcome in the space I hold for you.

Every time you take a shower 🚿
you have a chance to do more than just get clean, you can also regulate your nervous system.

As the warm water runs over you, your body naturally begins to relax. Paying attention to the sound and steady rhythm of the water can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the part responsible for helping you rest, digest and feel safe.

Try this next time you shower:
✨ Notice the temperature and feel of the water on your skin
✨ Breathe slowly, matching your breath to the sound of the water
✨ Imagine the stress and anxious thoughts washing away down the drain

A simple daily act that can help you feel more grounded, calm, and present, body and mind. 🌿

You deserve to be in environments that bring out the softness in you, not the survival.

When you're in a space that supports your wellbeing, you may naturally lean into moments of joy, creativity and warmth. It’s a little reminder to lean into environments that celebrate who you are. Surround yourself with people and spaces that let you truly be soft, authentic and whole.
