Your Notional Rent may be reduced (β€œabated”) for a few common reasons, such as:

πŸ’· Improvement grants β€” if NHS funding has contributed to refurbishments or extensions, an abatement is applied for a set period.

🀝 Third-party use β€” if you rent space to other providers, reimbursement may be adjusted unless approved.

πŸ“ Under-utilised space β€” if parts of the building aren’t needed for core NHS services, the valuer can reduce the reimbursed area.

In short: abatements usually reflect grant-funded improvements, non-practice use, or surplus space. βœ…
