IBK are currently working with a parent who is looking for a support worker / personal assistant to work with her 5 year old daughter who has an autism diagnosis. This young person loves bouncing and trampolining, dancing, watching CBeebies, spending time with her sister and learning about numbers and space.

The main focus of the support is to ensure this young person is safe and happy whilst taking part in activities she enjoys. There will be some preparing of meals and personal care also involved in the role. The Friday evening shift will centre around providing afterschool, support and support around the bedtime routine in the family home. The Saturday shift will centre around supporting this young person access swimming and enjoy a cake in the café afterwards.

Hours:

Fridays: 6pm-8.30pm

Saturdays: 3 hours in the morning

This role centres around working with a disabled man at home, and to access work and holidays. This is an exciting and innovative role that requires an open minded individual, willing to commit to this post. This gentleman lives a full life and works across various organisations as a disability equality trainer.

- Personal care support

- Managing emails and work deadlines

- Support to attend GP appointments and order prescriptions

- Preparing nutritious meals

Central to this role will also be learning and facilitating this gentleman’s non verbal communication.

A personalised training package and regular supervisions are offered as part of this role.

Hours:

48 hours per week

Wednesdays 9am-Thursdays 9am

Saturdays 9am- Sunday 9am

The ability to cover holidays and sickness and offer flexibility is essential to the role.

We are currently working with a family who are seeking to recruit an experienced and confident Personal Assistant to join their small team in providing support to their 28 year old daughter who has complex needs and requires support with many aspects of her care.

The ideal PA is someone who is observant and an excellent communicator, someone who will invest time in getting to know and understand this lady and the non verbal ways she will communicate her wants and needs.

Hours:
There are hours available on:
Wednesdays if a driver for taking/ collecting from a day service
Thursdays during the day at home and or going out
Saturdays home or going out.

Also ad hoc hours to cover holidays of other PA's etc.

Job description
IBK are supporting a lovely family to recruit a team of PA's to support their 10 year old son who has a severe disability.

The PA's are required to keep the young boy safe in his own home in the Sheffield, S9 area.

This young man has complex health needs and needs PA's with the skills, confidence and personality to follow strict routines with medication and equipment and to work with mum and other PA's with honesty and commitment.

This young man is a cheeky chap and has the most gorgeous smile! He is into watching Tom and Jerry and Horrid Henry as well as accessing his education using eye gaze technology. He adores his Mummy and his 2 extremely friendly cats!

This role will appeal to those who have worked within the medical field, child care or schools and who have existing knowledge in caring for children or adults with complex medical needs. The role is on par with supporting a patient in the high dependency unit at the hospital, however is in the comfort of the family home.

Each day and night has a number of key tasks and routines to follow which include medical interventions, observations and personal cares.

Training for this role includes:

- Ventilator,

- Tracheostomy

- Peg & feeds

- Suctioning

- Emergency input and basic life support, including emergency box

- Medication administration

- Oxygen therapy and cough assist machine

- Saturation monitoring

- Personal cares, including catheterisation

- Moving and handling including various equipment such as hoists, wheelchair, profiling bed, sleep system, massage table and shower chair

All training will be signed off by the family Nurse.

There are 3 posts available and the young man needs a waking night PA.

One post is a 30 hour post working both nights and some days.

Nights are 9pm to 7am and day shifts can be really flexible.

You must be flexible and willing to work any day of the week, although 1 weekend off in 4 for full time workers.

There is also an opportunity for 2 bank PA's to cover for any sickness and holiday.

£13.24 per hour.

The focus of the support is to offer the family the support they need to keep the children safe and to have the best life they can!

The children all have unique personalities, needs and interests and the PA’s will need lots of training and support from the children’s parents and professionals to excel in this role.

Each day has a number of key tasks and routines to follow which include personal care and medical interventions, and most definitely lots of play time. The activities the children enjoy are baking, painting (we have expert creators here!), singing and dancing and hopefully getting out and about to see the ducks or other exciting animals at the zoo!

Training for this role includes:

- ventilator,

- Tracheostomy

- Peg & feeds

- Suctioning

- Emergency input and basic life support

- Medication administration

- Personal cares

- Oxygen therapy

- Saturation monitoring

- Moving and handling including various equipment such as a chair, stander, profiling bed, P pod, wheelchair, using splints, gaters, sleep system, and shower chair

The children need support from a PA during the day from 12pm, 7 days per week and at night time.

There is 1 post available for 30 hours per week working a combination of days and nights.

You must be flexible and willing to work any day of the week on an agreed rota. The rota will work on a basis of 2 weeks of days then 2 weeks of nights.

Nights shifts are 10pm to 8am and day shifts start at 12pm and will be either 5 or 8 hours.

£15.54 per hour.

IBK are seeking to help support a Autistic young man who's in need of a Befriender in the S13 of Sheffield

The 16 year old man also has learning difficulties and needs assistance to move forward in his life.

What Befriender interests and skills are we looking for?

Ideally we are looking for someone who understands the impact this can have on the individual and their families. This can be on a professional or personal level and the befriender has the experience of working with teenagers on the autistic spectrum and/or learning difficulties.

IBK require someone who can relate to the young person while offering support and encouragement. The Befriender will be able to create a strong and positive relationship, as well as having the skills so that the young man feels emotionally supported, helping him build his confidence.

The 16 year old has a strong interest in football, especially his favourite team which is Manchester United, so the befriender must ideally have lots of sports coaching knowledge and enjoy watching films!

About the young person interests and activities:

This young man is described as a bright kid that smashed everyone's expectations

He is also very vulnerable and he is prone to anxiety and needs order and routine in his life to help him feel calm. He finds change difficult and can be very emotional.

This young person enjoys spending time outdoors and swimming. He also enjoys cooking and can't wait to start College as this will take him one step closer to becoming a football pundit!

The Befriender will support this young man to work towards the following Outcomes:

Take small steps towards developing his independence away from his family
Boost his self-esteem and increase his confidence which with help build a greater social network
Improve social skills and develop an ability to form meaningful relationships
Improve mental health and well being
Build on skills for independent living and accessing employment in the future
Establishing links with activities and local clubs
Experience in money handling
The funding for this post will be reviewed every 6 months, so therefore the post may continue.

Contract length: 6 months

Part-time hours: 5 per week

IBK are supporting a family to recruit a PA, to join a team of PA's, who support their 30 year old daughter who is autistic and specifically has Asperger's syndrome (as per her own identity) and sensory needs.

The primary focus for the Befriender (PA) will be to become part of the team who work patiently and sensitively with this young lady so that she trusts the support given. This enables her to do the things she chooses, following routines in place to keep her safe and well.

This young adult is an 'Eco warrior' and enjoys recycling and is trying to change the way she lives to work towards a more environmentally friendly way of doing things. This bright and creative adult also enjoys online shopping (although the budgeting side can be a struggle) plus watching tv programmes such as The Simpsons, Sooty and Sweep and The Cosby Show. Her knowledge and ability to retain information on things that she loves is amazing!

This young woman responds best to positive and calm individuals. We are looking for someone who is open minded and willing to learn about Autism, on-the-job training is provided.

There is a wonderful support team around this person and they want to invite an additional PA(s) in to join the team!

The family live in Sheffield S10 which is on the no 51 bus route.
