Job description
IBK are supporting a wonderful family to recruit a PA to join a team of PA's who care and support their 3 young children; an 9 year old princess and her two brothers, one who is 7 years old and one who is 3 years old, who all have a severe disability.
The focus of the support is to offer the family the support they need to keep the children safe and to have the best life they can!
The children all have unique personalities, needs and interests and the PA’s will need lots of training and support from the children’s parents and professionals to excel in this role.
Each day has a number of key tasks and routines to follow which include personal care and medical interventions, and most definitely lots of play time. The activities the children enjoy are baking, painting (we have expert creators here!), singing and dancing and hopefully getting out and about to see the ducks or other exciting animals at the zoo!
Training for this role includes:
- ventilator,
- Tracheostomy
- Peg & feeds
- Suctioning
- Emergency input and basic life support
- Medication administration
- Personal cares
- Oxygen therapy
- Saturation monitoring
- Moving and handling including various equipment such as a chair, stander, profiling bed, P pod, wheelchair, using splints, gaters, sleep system, and shower chair
All training will be signed off by the family Nurse.
The children need support from a PA during the day from 12pm, 7 days per week and at night time.
There is 1 post available for 30 hours per week working a combination of days and nights.
You must be flexible and willing to work any day of the week on an agreed rota. The rota will work on a basis of 2 weeks of days then 2 weeks of nights.
Nights shifts are 10pm to 8am and day shifts start at 12pm and will be either 5 or 8 hours.
£15.54 per hour.

Essential criteria
· Experience of working with children or adults with complex health needs and ideally from a medical environment e.g. hospital, residential nursing, complex needs support work
· Willing to undertake essential training at commencement and take part in regular updates with parents and professionals.
· Ability to work as a team and to learn from existing PA’s
· Understand positive risk management and can keep calm in times of emergency
· Willing to invest in getting to know the children well and commit to providing the best support
· Be respectful in the family-home.
· Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality.
· Be creative and confident with a fun and professional approach
· A good sense of humour and have the enthusiasm to motivate the children to engage in activities
· Have a genuine desire to enhance the lives of these young people
Desirable criteria
· Have ideas about things that the children may enjoy and bring your own interests to the team
Part-time hours: 30 per week
There is also an opportunity to work with this family on a 0 hours contract.
