Here is some interesting information ✅️
Sleeping without support between your legs, as a side sleeper, can twist your spine and cause pain in your lower back and hips by putting pressure on your joints and misaligning your pelvis. Side sleepers may benefit from a pillow between their knees to keep their hips stacked and spine aligned, which can relieve pressure and improve comfort. While this is common for comfort or due to pressure relief, it's worth noting any pain or discomfort you feel upon waking.
Why support between the legs helps (for side sleepers)
Spinal Alignment:
A pillow between the knees helps align your pelvis and spine, preventing your top leg from falling forward and twisting your lower back.
Reduced Pressure:
It neutralizes the position of your pelvis by slightly elevating the top leg, reducing pressure on your lower back and hip joints.
Strain Reduction:
By promoting better posture, it can decrease strain that builds up overnight from poor sleeping habits.
Potential issues with not using a pillow.
Back and Hip Pain:
Without support, your top leg can fall forward, leading to a twisted lower back and increased pressure on your hip joints, which can cause pain.
Spine Misalignment:
The lack of support can subtly pull your spine out of alignment over the course of the night.
Considerations
Personal Comfort:
For some, sleeping without a pillow may just be a natural position that feels comfortable and provides a sense of security.
Listen to Your Body:
Pay attention to how your body feels when you wake up. If you experience discomfort or pain, especially in your back or hips, adding a pillow between your legs can make a big difference.
Knee Pain:
If you have existing conditions like knock knees, using a pillow between your legs can provide immediate pain relief, according to Cure My Knee.
