We are so fortunate to have the incredible Shipston Home Nursing "Hospice care at home" in our area. This a reminder of the bereavement support the team provide. Thank you to everyone 🙏🏻💙

This week is National Grief Awareness Week.

The theme for 2025 is 'Growing with Grief'. Losing a loved one feels like an ending in so many ways, but in time, it can also become the ground from which something new begins.

At Shipston Home Nursing, we offer bereavement counselling sessions to support you and your loved ones. These sessions are delivered by a trained counsellor who is registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

If you need us, please call 01608 664850 or email care@shipstonhomenursing.co.uk

🕒 The power of an hour!

Tomorrow, Tuesday 2 December, we’ll be taking part in , the UK’s national day dedicated to digital wellbeing and we’re inviting organisations across the country to join us.

At Mental Health First Aid England, we know that when employees feel supported mentally, emotionally, and physically, performance improves. Digital wellbeing is a powerful part of that. One hour away from screens can help us recharge, reconnect, and reset at work, at home, or both.

Why digital wellbeing matters

A constant cycle of emails, pings, and notifications makes it harder to switch off, think clearly, or stay focused. Just one hour offline can help:

✔ Reduce stress and digital fatigue
✔ Improve focus and energy
✔ Strengthen connection with colleagues and loved ones
✔ Create healthier work–life boundaries

Choose your hour. Your way.

Pick one of three pathways tomorrow:

🟣 Connect with colleagues: Walk-and-talk, a no-tech coffee, or a screen-free meeting
🟡 Connect with others: Spend time with friends or family, distraction-free
🔵 Connect with yourself: Journal, pause, reflect, take a tech-light lunch

There’s no wrong way to take your timeout. Just choose something that brings clarity, calm, or connection. Let’s step back from our screens and lead by example in creating workplaces where wellbeing and performance go hand in hand.

📅 Tuesday 2 December 2025
⏳ One hour offline
📥 Free toolkit available to help you plan and promote the day

Together, let’s disconnect - so we can reconnect with what matters.

Today, the UK Government has published the first ever Men's Health Strategy for England.

We want to see a world where everyone has a healthier heart for longer. However, sadly, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the biggest killers of men in the UK, claiming the lives of more than one in four of our brothers, fathers, uncles and sons.

We welcome this Strategy for England as an acknowledgement of the inequalities in health, including cardiovascular health, that men across the country face, and as a vital step forward in tackling this major public health burden.

As outlined in the Strategy, building health services that engage with, and respond to, the unique health needs of men and boys, and ensuring the wider social and built environment supports their health, are crucial steps towards building a society where all men and boys have an equal chance of living long lives in good heart health - regardless of where they live, or their ethnic or cultural background.

We look forward to working with Government on implementing this vital Strategy, and to engaging on the forthcoming renewed Women’s Health Strategy for England.

When someone dies by su***de, the impact reaches far and wide. For every life lost, it’s estimated that around 135 people are affected.

This ripple extends into workplaces too, spaces where grief is often unseen, yet deeply felt. We know that the workplace can make a real difference by offering understanding and stability to anyone in the workplace impacted by a su***de.

That’s why we're welcoming the launch of the BS 30480:2025 – Su***de and the Workplace: Intervention, Prevention and Support for People Affected by Su***de.

This new British Standard, available free to all organisations, marks an important step toward helping employers respond to su***de with care, confidence, and humanity. It offers clear guidance on how to:

💜 Put in place sensitive and systematic support measures
💜 Communicate responsibly and compassionately after a loss
💜 Recognise when specialist support may be needed

Because every workplace should be a place where people feel safe to talk, to grieve, and to find support.
