My new block of Autumn classes starts this week and we have some availability in all classes. With seasonal change, it’s important to keep the body moving and open to support our immune and respiratory systems as well as regulate our mood as we head towards shorter, colder days. Details for our new schedule of weekly classes are here; from Tuesday 19th August we have our usual beginners class, a new Tuesday continuing beginners class and a new Friday morning Gentle class. I’ve had to remove our regular Saturday class in a bid to prioritise family time but will still be offering pop up workshops and wellbeing evenings in Autumn and Winter. Tonights gentle and restorative class will offer some poses to relieve lower back pain, a common presentation from students coming to class. Yoga can offer you some simple and effective approaches to help relieve aches and pains, bring awareness to postural habits that might be creating problems and build strength and flexibility to give you confidence in managing or reducing pain going forward. These approaches help us find a way for our bodies to inhabit our practice more comfortably and experience the asanas safely.

Great selection of yogi teas to choose from after our Gentle and restorative class tomorrow! It’s going to be a lovely sunny evening so we can enjoy the warmth and glow of the evening sun after class. I’ll be sharing some great poses to relieve head and neck tensions and some supported forward bends and supine poses to gently open and unwind.

KOSA YOGA was founded by Diane Christopherson, an Introductory level qualified Iyengar Yoga Teacher based in the beautiful coastal town of Dunbar. As well as being a keen practitioner of Iyengar Yoga for over 10 years, Diane is also a mum of 3, a part time primary school teacher, keen surfer and outdoor learning enthusiast.
KOSA YOGA is currently offering yoga classes taught in the Iyengar tradition at the fantastic new Belhaven Surf Centre, in the warm and sunny education space. All classes are suitable for beginners or those looking to deepen their practise of the basic asanas. Iyengar Yoga has a strong focus on alignment, using props as tools to guide you in a safe practice. The creative use of blankets, blocks and belts are particularly useful for those suffering from common injuries such as lower back pain, shoulder stiffness and knee problems.
