I used to think bloating on charter was just part of the job.
Everyone gets bloated. Everyone’s digestion suffers. It’s yacht life, right?

But then I started noticing something: the crew members who felt the most stressed also had the worst digestion. The ones dealing with difficult guests, or navigating toxic crew dynamics, or working the longest hours, they were the ones struggling the most with bloating and gut issues.

And it wasn’t because they were eating badly. It was because their nervous systems were in constant panic mode.

Your gut doesn’t care about the quality of your food when your body thinks it’s under attack. It shuts down. It can’t digest. It inflames.
So the real shift happens when you create safety. Not perfection. Safety.

Five minutes of breathing before a meal.
Chewing instead of rushing.
Eating with crew you actually trust.
These tiny moments tell your nervous system: “we’re okay. you can relax now.”
And that’s when your digestion finally works.

Here’s what I’ve learned about crew culture.
It’s not about willpower or discipline. It’s about belonging.

When you’re on a yacht, your crew is your family. You eat together, work together, celebrate together. And when everyone’s doing shots at the end of charter, saying no feels like saying no to the group. Like you’re rejecting them.

So you don’t say no. You join in. And then you feel like you’ve failed.

But you haven’t.

One party doesn’t undo weeks of progress. One night doesn’t erase your commitment. What actually matters is what you do next.

That’s the real work. Not being perfect at the party. But knowing how to come back to yourself after.

Save & share this with someone on your crew who needs to hear it. 💜

You know what I hear most from crew?
“I feel broken on board.”

Not broken because they’re weak. Not broken because they’re doing something wrong. Broken because nobody’s ever explained why their body behaves differently in tight quarters, on irregular schedules, with no control over meals.

This masterclass is for the crew who are tired of apologising for their body.
Tired of pushing through.
Tired of feeling like something’s wrong with them.
It’s not. Your hormones are just responding to the unique reality of life on a yacht. And once you understand that, you can actually work with your body instead of against it.

Thursday night, I’m showing you exactly how.

You just handled weeks of absolute chaos, aka St. Barths New Year charters. So why are you punishing yourself now?

Here’s what most crew don’t realise: your body can’t tell the difference between charter stress and restriction stress. It’s all just stress.

So when you pile restriction on top of St. Barths madness, your body stays in survival mode. Your cravings get worse. Your energy crashes harder. Your mood tanks.

That’s not weakness. That’s physiology.

Stop right there. Before you start another diet.

It’s January. Whether you’re in the Caribbean on back-to-back charters or stuck in a shipyard in Europe, you’ve cut out sugar, gone low carb, and ditched whole food groups, making the chef’s life tougher with new diet restrictions.

Then reality hits. A tough charter guest pushes you to your limits. By week three, you’re exhausted, your mood tanks, and you crave everything you cut out.

But here’s the truth. It’s not about willpower. It’s your body responding to restriction in a high-stress yacht environment.
What if you didn’t have to choose between feeling good and thriving as female yacht crew? You can support your hormones, enjoy your food, and actually feel energised on board and off.

Your hormones are trying to tell you something. Are you listening?

On charter, with back-to-back shifts, shared cabins, and eating whatever’s available, it’s easy to think feeling exhausted, moody, or bloated is just normal. But it’s your body asking for support.
Hormones don’t just affect your mood or period. They impact your energy on deck, sleep in a tiny cabin, digestion in the crew mess, and mental health at sea.

When you’re living on coffee, crew mess snacks, and whatever you can grab, you’re depleting key nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, iron, zinc, and protein. That’s why you crash, can’t sleep, feel irritable, or struggle with your cycle.
The yacht industry isn’t designed for hormonal health. You can’t always eat when your body needs fuel. But your hormones need consistent nutrition, no matter the charter schedule.

You’re not weak or not cut out for yachting. Your body just needs proper nutrition to thrive, even in a high-stress environment. When you support your hormones, everything changes: energy, mood, sleep, and resilience, even on charter.

🩷 Save this if you’re tired of feeling like your body’s working against you. Share with crew who need to hear it. Let’s change the conversation around crew health.

Welcome to 2026.🩷
Fresh energy, fresh start, no pressure.

Here’s what this year isn’t about: restrictive diets, punishing workouts, earning rest, fixing yourself, or proving you’re tough enough for yachting. You’re not broken. You don’t need a complete overhaul.

Here’s what 2026 is about: listening to your body, understanding your hormones, supporting your nervous system, nourishing yourself without guilt, and thriving on yachts instead of just surviving them. Not because you have to, but because you deserve to feel good.

There’s a difference between forcing and flowing. Forcing looks like restrictive plans, willpower, and pushing through exhaustion on charter. Flowing looks like working with your body, listening to signals, and adjusting as you go. One burns you out. One makes you sustainable for the season.

Here’s what you’ll find here in 2026: real talk about physical health, mental health, and what actually works on yachts. No BS, no quick fixes, no shame. Just honest support for crew who want to feel like themselves again.

And here’s your permission slip: you’re allowed to start gently. You don’t have to overhaul your life on January 1st. You’re allowed to ease in, to rest even on charter, to figure it out as you go. Fresh start doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

This year, you’ll find real stories from crew on board, practical tools for yacht-specific challenges, and support that actually helps you thrive on board. This is going to be a good year.

Welcome to The Healthy Crew Coach community. If you’re new here, hit follow. If you’ve been here a while, thank you for being here.
Let’s make 2026 the year you actually feel good on board 💗

Gentle reminder: you don’t have to earn rest!

Even when guests are demanding. Even when you’re stuck in a shipyard. Even when you’re celebrating Christmas thousands of miles from home.

But yachting tells you the opposite, doesn’t it?
Rest is for rotation or holidays.
Rest is what you get when the guests finally leave. Rest is lazy when there’s still turndowns, laundry, and maintenance waiting.

So you push through exhaustion, ignore your body screaming at you, and wonder why you’re burnt out halfway through the season.

Here’s what I know: rest isn’t a reward. It’s survival.

Your body needs rest to regulate your hormones, repair your nervous system, restore your energy, process stress, and think clearly. Without it, everything breaks down: your mood, your cycle, your digestion, your sleep, your ability to keep showing up without losing it.

And rest doesn’t have to be complicated, even on board. It’s going to bed 30 minutes earlier instead of scrolling. Saying no to crew drinks when you’re already exhausted. Lying in your cabin for 15 minutes between service. Taking a walk on the dock without checking your phone. Eating a meal sitting down instead of inhaling it standing in the galley. Letting the laundry pile wait until tomorrow.

Rest is anything that lets your body stop running.
You’re allowed to rest even on charter.
You’re allowed to rest before everything’s “done.” You’re allowed to rest even when other crew are still pushing.

Rest isn’t unprofessional. It’s the only way you’ll make it through the season without breaking.

When you actually rest, your energy comes back. Your mood stops swinging. Your hormones settle. Your body feels safe enough to function properly. You show up better for guests, for crew, for yourself.
Rest doesn’t make you weak. It makes you capable of lasting.

Comment BALANCE and I’ll send you my free Hormone Health Checklist, it breaks down everything your body needs to actually rest and recover, especially on yachts 💗

December should be fun, right?

But then work deadlines pile up, dinner parties, cocktail evenings, hosting friends and family, last-minute shopping, and everywhere you look there’s mince pies, mulled wine, and chocolate.
Your body gets absolutely overloaded.

So here’s what I do to actually enjoy December without feeling like I’m falling apart:

I say no to things that feel like too much (yes, even some parties).

I move slower, not harder.

I eat MORE real food, not less.

I protect my morning routine like it’s sacred.

I’m in bed by 10pm.

Sounds counterintuitive when there’s so much to do, right?

But when your nervous system is already drowning in deadlines, social commitments, and sugar, these aren’t “weird”, they’re survival.

When you stop trying to do it all and start actually supporting your body, you can finally enjoy December.

Save this for the week when you need the reminder that saying no and slowing down isn’t missing out, it’s the only way to actually be present for the stuff that matters.

Do you need specialised help with bloating? My honest answer: not everyone...

But if your uniform feels tight before service even starts and generic health advice isn’t cutting it, then keep reading.

After 12+ years as chief stew, I know exactly why female yachties struggle with this, and what actually works.

It’s easy to forget your own dreams when you’re working week after week on board, staying up late, putting everyone else first, and running on autopilot. But you deserve more than just getting by.

What’s your biggest desire right now? More energy, calm mornings, clothes that fit better, feeling good in your skin, a mind that’s actually rested, or maybe just making it through a season feeling proud of how you treated yourself?

Whatever it is, it’s possible. Change doesn’t have to be dramatic or perfect. Small choices each day add up, and you get to put yourself first, even in the middle of yacht chaos.

You’re allowed to have goals beyond the next charter or tip. Your healthiest, happiest yacht life is worth chasing. And you’ve already got what it takes.
Rooting for you, always. 🩷

Mid-season isn’t just about tired feet and messy cabins. It’s when your stress hormones go wild, blood sugar crashes sneak up, and even a simple breakfast can leave you feeling bloated.

Did you know long hours, chaotic shifts, and poor sleep trigger cortisol spikes that actually make cravings and mood swings worse?
That’s why “just one more coffee” or a packet of biscuits isn’t the fix your body needs, even if it feels good in the moment.

Small reset rituals help your system recover fast.
My go-to is the 5-minute morning routine from the Yacht Crew Emergency Kit: fresh air, deep breathing, a real drink of water, and a sneaky stretch, wherever you can find space on board.
