The Healing Light of the Sun ☀️ 💚

There’s something quite magical about the way sunlight touches our skin, warms our face, and softens our mood.

In the rhythm of everyday life…especially during times of stress, anxiety, or emotional heaviness—the sun offers us a moment of stillness and connection. It reminds us we are part of something bigger. That light can return, even after the longest dark spells.

Exposure to sunlight isn’t just soothing…it boosts serotonin, supports better sleep, and can gently lift low moods. A few minutes outside, feeling the sun on your skin, can be a form of self-care. A small pause that says: I’m allowed to rest. I’m allowed to feel good.

Whether you’re walking, sitting with a coffee, or simply standing by a window—notice the light. Breathe it in.

The weight of the “shoulds”
You might know them well…

“I should be coping better.”
“I should be grateful — others have it worse.”
“I should have it all figured out by now.”
“I should be stronger, calmer, happier…”

The “shoulds” are quiet, but heavy.
They creep into your thoughts and tighten around your chest — convincing you that struggle is failure, and feelings need to be justified.

But here’s the truth:
You are allowed to feel how you feel.
You don’t need to earn rest, softness, or support.
Struggling doesn’t make you weak — it makes you human.

In therapy, we gently explore these “shoulds” and where they come from.
And together, we begin to replace them with something kinder —
something that sounds more like:
“I’m doing the best I can.”
“I get to have needs, too.”
“I’m allowed to take up space.”

If any of this resonates, know you’re not alone.
You don’t have to carry it all by yourself.
