** ⭐️ Free Coaching ⭐️**

In the new year I will be undertaking my EMCC Diploma in Transformational Coaching and will be looking for Coachees to work with.

I’m looking to work with Leaders (of people, business units and/or businesses) who need support in creating long-term sustainable change.

My expertise will allow me to work with you at the level of beliefs, values, identity and purpose to enable you to have a different relationship with yourself in how you see, think, feel and behave in certain situations, and in interactions with others. 🎯

As a guide, I’ve worked with clients who have self-limiting beliefs, struggle with procrastination, find it difficult to navigate change, have ‘Imposter Syndrome’, or are fearful of failure. Those are just some examples - the change, challenge or content that you bring to the session will be for you to decide. 🧠

I have over 8-years of experience, so I’m not new to Coaching, but looking to demonstrate my competence and capability via this qualification route.

The coaching will take place over 6 x 1hr sessions, and is free of charge in exchange for both verbal and written feedback on your experience of being coached by me, which I will use in my portfolio submission.

If this sounds like something you, or someone you know could benefit from, please do get in touch.

Please like and share this post with your networks. Thank you! ❤️

What if I told you that the key to your wellbeing lies in an activity that you do every single day, and more often than not, pay no attention to…

An activity that enables you to shift from fight or flight mode, to rest and digest; regulating your autonomic nervous system to allow you more time in a calm parasympathetic state.

Would you believe me if I told you that I was talking about breathing?

It’s the one thing we’ve all been doing since the beginning of our days. Yet despite it giving us life, many of us haven’t spent any time learning how to breathe properly.

(Laura, I’ve been breathing all of my life! Surely I’ve got this sussed?) - Stick with me here!

If we learn to manage our breathing cadence, and our biomechanics, we can change our biochemistry to a more positive state.

We can train ourselves to breathe through stress, anxiety, uncertainty and discomfort. We can train ourselves to breathe into a more calm, positive and resilient state of being.

All good coaches have their own coaches, and I’m so glad that and I chose Kev to be our coach on Monday.

Kev beautifully guided us both through a Buteyko breathwork session to get us ready to test our minds and our bodies in a cold water immersion session.
6 minutes in 6 degrees.
6 minutes of stillness.
6 minutes of using nothing but breath to manage the cold, the stress response, the negative thoughts.
6 minutes of resetting the nervous system.
6 minutes of building strength and resilience.
Hours of euphoria after.

If you’re struggling with:
*Lack of quality sleep
*Lack of focus and concentration
*Fatigue
*Stress or anxiety
Focused breathwork can help.

I can’t recommend enough. A generous, warm and selfless gent, and he makes a great cuppa!

It was a privilege to be invited to an awards event this week as the guest speaker. I spoke to an amazing community of ladies about purpose, identity and happiness. 💛
It’s amazing to finally be able to attend events and speak in person again after two years, and I can honestly say there could not have been a better event to end that two year hiatus. 🙌
Thank you for inviting me, for introducing me to your amazing community of ladies, and for the beautiful flowers! 💐

😱 Do one thing that scares you, every day! 😱

If it’s both terrifying and amazing then you should absolutely pursue it. Keep doing it until it no longer scares you. Then it’s just amazing! ⭐️

My fear wasn’t heights, but falling from them. I’d happily get to the peak of something, but I’d be terrified of getting too close to the edge. 🏔

Leaning into that fear led me to jump out of a plane over the beautiful, vast greenery of The Lake District, and abseil into the bottomless, darkness of a glacial moulin on Sólheimajökull Glacier, on the Icecap of Myrdalsjökull, on the south coast of Iceland. 🪂

You gain strength, courage and confidence every time you stop to look fear in the face. That fear can be anything from public speaking, to asking for help. From talking to camera to going to charging what you’re worth in business. Whatever your fear is, lean into it. Each time you do, it gets easier! 💪🏻

It has a ripple effect too. The confidence you build will extend to other areas of your life. Lean into fear & be thankful for it. It will give you some of the best experiences of your life. 🙏

🥷 Mental Health by Stealth 🥷

Our modern experience has many of us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed and knackered 😥

With so many competing and often conflicting demands for our attention, it’s no wonder that sometimes we feel like our ability to cope is being tested. Challenging deadlines at work, family relationships, health concerns; the list goes on 📈

So when we’re already feeling the pressure, how can we lighten the load without giving ourselves something else to do?

One way is to spend some time in ‘blue space’ when you head out for your walk. Spending time at rivers, lakes, waterfalls and oceans counters our stress response, and for those of you who don’t fancy a winter cold water dip, the benefits extend beyond being in the water, to simply being around it 🌊

When we’re around water, almost all of our senses are engaged. I love to close my eyes and listen to the sound of the waves crashing against the shoreline. Engaging our senses around water induces a flood of neuro chemicals that promote wellness, increase blood flow to the brain and heart, and promote relaxation through a meditative inducing state. In turn this promotes clarity of thinking, self-awareness and creativity - all fundamental factors in high performers 💛

So what if you don’t live by a ‘blue space?’. Showers! Sounds crazy right, but think about it… you step into a shower and remove loads of the visual stimulation of your day (assuming you don’t live in a fancy house with a TV in your bathroom!). Auditorially it’s the same, just a steady stream of blue noise. You still benefit from the immersive nature of water but in the comfort of your own home 🚿

Add cold to that shower and the mood boosting properties increase massively - but that’s a post for another day.

What’s your favourite way to engage with blue space?

I took this photo 8-years ago today. It epitomises so much of the journey that my little family has been on, and so many of the lessons we’ve come to learn.

5-years old, awaiting surgery to try to reconnect his Left Branch Pulmonary Artery. Recruiting his Left Lung back into his cardiovascular system was the requirement for the next open heart surgery Lewis needed to prolong his life. Another surgery to pave the way for open heart surgery number 3. ❤️

As I sat bedside, desperately trying to hide my fear, sadness and anxiety, my thoughts flickered from frustration at the error that had caused Lewis’ Lung to be disconnected and the time it had taken anyone to notice, to stress about what failure to reconnect the Lung would mean for Lewis’ life. 😥

Lewis however, sat exactly as the photo shows. The BIGGEST smile on his face. He knew he was about to undergo surgery (this was far from a new experience), yet he sat and smiled. No stress, no tears. Just laughter. Why? He was in his favorite Ben 10 dressing gown and socks, cuddling his favourite teddy (Mrs Elephant) and watching DVDs; his favourite thing to do. In that moment he was 100% enjoying himself and the upcoming surgery wasn’t going to dampen his spirits. 😊

Of course he was too young to know of the broader implications of this surgery. Yet even in his young little mind (whether consciously or not), he chose enjoyment over fear, right up until we headed to Theatre. 🧠

He will never know all of the lessons that he has often unknowingly taught me over the years. Today this photo served as a reminder of one - to be present & cherish every moment. Living in the future or the past only robs us of our chance to enjoy today. 🎁

Six years ago, at the World Trade Centre Memorial, I stood in the most powerful silence I’ve ever experienced. I read the hundreds of names engraved into the site where the Twin Towers once stood. Completely overcome with emotion, I thought about all of the people who headed to work that morning and the people who boarded those flights and lost their lives. They could never have known that they would never return home.

I thought about the service men and women who headed out for their shift that morning. Heartbreakingly, some of them knew that they may not make it home, yet continued on. Those heroes gave their lives.

As the sun set in NYC, I noticed this rose. It’s stem nestled in the engraving. It reminded me of the beauty and the fragility of life.

I’ll never forget being 16 years old, watching this most terrifying, unthinkable event unfold. The horror of that day changed our whole world in ways we never could have imagined. Many of us remember exactly where we were when we heard the news. This day will be etched in my memory for the rest of my life.

If I learned anything from 9/11, it’s that life is short, uncertain and impermanent. Nurture every moment with affection, love, tenderness and kindness.

For those who lost their lives. We remember.

For those who gave their lives. We remember.

If I've learnt anything over the past few years about smashing the goals we have, it's that most of the time, we don't need to spend more time on gaining more certificates or working more hours. We don't need to spend time looking externally for ways to improve our performance. Often the most impactful way of making lasting change and smashing goals, is to turn our attention towards ourselves.

I truly believe that we already have within us exactly what we need to be successful, whether that be in work, sport, relationships; every area of our lives. If we can better understand ourselves, the patterns that we repeat, the stories we tell ourselves and the reasons we sabotage our progress (often without realising it) then we can experience real transformative change that allows us to be successful in whatever we put our mind to.

Alongside Ric Moylan, I'm so proud that we have been able to build and deliver a course that encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone, to challenge your thoughts and beliefs and to experience change in a hugely transformative way. A perfect blend of motivation, inspiration, experience and education.

From breaking arrows with your throat, to walking barefoot on broken glass. From breaking wooden boards to walking barefoot across hot coals. If you can get your mind in a place where you can achieve all of those feats without injury, just imagine what else you could do!

It was a pleasure to spend the day with an amazing group of people from Housewives to Personal Trainers, from Lawyers to CEO's, from TV stars to Sports Stars. You might recognise a few familiar faces in the photos! Every person came wanting to be an improved version of themselves. I'm confident everyone left being exactly that, Ric & I included.
