We’re proud to share that our Director of Strategic Partnerships, Mary Warrilow, has published a blog article with the Royal College of Nursing and their Women’s Health Forum to help raise awareness of lipoedema amongst nurses and midwives.

Educating healthcare professionals is essential in ensuring earlier recognition, better care and support for people living with lipoedema.

A huge thank you to the Royal College of Nursing for collaborating with us 💙

🔬 An international research study exploring the experiences of Lipoedema before and during pregnancy, and in the first year after birth, is calling on participants to share their experiences.

The study, conducted by Joanna Dudek, PhD, from SWPS University in Warsaw, Johanna Falck, PhD, and Professor Jan Martensson from Jönköping University in Sweden, aims to better understand the physical, emotional, and social experiences of women with Lipoedema during pregnancy.

You are invited to participate if:
- You are 18 years or older, and
- You have had Lipoedema before pregnancy, during pregnancy, or in the first year after childbirth, and
- You have already given birth (the study is not for those who are currently pregnant).

There is no formal Lipoedema diagnosis required to take part.

If you fit this criteria yourself, or know of anyone who does and may be interested in sharing their experiences, please head to Lipoedema UK website below:

As highlighted in a recent BBC Article, Lipoedema patients continue to face significant challenges in accessing diagnosis and treatment.

Conservative and surgical treatments exist for lipoedema and should be accessible to everyone, but frustratingly this is not the case in the UK.

At Lipoedema UK, we are campaigning for improved NHS services for the diagnosis and management of Lipoedema.

Our team regularly engage with NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), local commissioning groups, nurses, GPs, and government officials to highlight the need for change.

We are leading several initiatives to improve awareness and educate healthcare professionals, supporting hundreds of women with the condition via our website resource and online community.

Join us in making a difference - donate or get involved today.
