I read something earlier about how therapists “hold space” - gently carrying the weight of people’s stories so clients can leave feeling just that little bit lighter.

But it got me thinking… what happens to all those stories we hold? Where do they go?

For me, it’s always been music and movement 🎶

I remember driving back and forth to my NHS placement during training - sometimes after really heavy sessions. I’d get in the car, turn the radio up loud, have a little wiggle in my seat and sing along (badly 😅).

And somehow, by the time I got home, I’d shifted it. I was ready to be present again, ready for family time.

Now that I work from home it’s usually a bit of a jiggle around my kitchen after client sessions, and it still works a treat.

If you need space held for your story, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Coffee in the garden, sunshine on my face ☀️

Cat rolling at my feet, dogs mooching and sniffing… simple, quiet moments that feel like everything x

Yesterday was laughter with my longest-standing Shrewsbury friend, proper, silly, belly laughs about nothing and everything.

It got me thinking… self-care doesn’t have to be bubble baths or big plans. Sometimes it’s this. The small, ordinary moments that fill you back up.

Self-care looks different for all of us — what does it look like for you?

Easter isn’t sweet for everyone.

For some, it’s a quiet battle, surrounded by chocolate, wanting to join in, trying to “just have one”…

But knowing it’s not that simple.

Living with diabetes means constantly balancing enjoyment and health - even on days that are meant to feel easy.

So if someone you know is navigating diabetes this Easter, a little understanding goes a long way.

If you are living with diabetes and would like to talk to someone who understands your frustrations, fears, and challenges - someone who truly listens - then please get in touch.

Reaching out for therapy can feel incredibly hard. You might know you need support, but something holds you back - uncertainty, fear, or simply not knowing where to begin.

That’s okay.

A good therapist understands how big that first step can feel. There’s no pressure, no judgment, and no expectation for you to have it all figured out. You can come exactly as you are, when you’re ready. Even if that readiness feels small or uncertain, they’ll be there to meet you with warmth, patience, and understanding.

You don’t have to rush. You just have to know the door is open.

Living with pain every day is exhausting.

It can leave you feeling short-tempered, snappy, and not quite yourself. Over time, even the people closest to you may struggle to understand, and the support you once felt can fade. So you push it down, stay silent, and carry on… while resentment quietly builds.

But it doesn’t have to stay this way.

Counselling offers a space where you can be truly heard - without judgement, without pressure, and without having to hold anything back. A space where your experience is understood, where your feelings can be explored safely, and where you can begin to find new ways of coping.

With gentle, compassionate support, it’s possible to manage the emotional weight of pain and reconnect with a sense of balance in your life.

I understand, because I live it too.

If you’re struggling, you don’t have to do it alone.

Feel free to reach out.

Some good news - I'm now a registered member with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) after passing my Certificate of Proficiency exam. This doesn't just mean that I can add some (fancy) letters after my name, but that I can formally demonstrate that my practice meets rigorous professional and ethical standards. This is in addition to the in-depth training and coursework undertaken over the past 4 years. There’s been highs and lows but my passion for helping others has never waned.

I thoroughly enjoy working in the world of private practice, seeing clients online anywhere in the U.K., and in person at my home office in Shrewsbury. I only run a small practice by choice, but that means that I can give my full attention to clients.

If you have any worries or concerns in your life, and are curious about what counselling could offer you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

What actually happens in a person-centred counselling session?

There’s no advice-giving. No fixing. No, “you should do this.”

Instead, there’s:

• A space where you can finally exhale
• Someone who listens to understand, not judge
• The freedom to explore what’s really going on for you
• Support that helps you find your own answers

A person-centred counsellor isn’t there to lead your story; they walk alongside you while you rediscover your voice. Because you’re not broken. You’re human.

And sometimes, being truly heard changes everything.

Who do I think I am, offering to help you with your emotions?

Do I have everything figured out? Nope.
Do I have insecurities? Yep.
Do I procrastinate, overthink, and sometimes just eat cereal for dinner? Yes, I do!

I am not a mountain sage who has reached the summit. I am more like an experienced trail guide with better maps. I know where the loose rocks are and can say, “Careful, this part gets slippery,” but I am still walking the mountain, too.

So, no, I might not be a perfectly regulated superhuman. The power of therapy does not come from perfection. It comes from presence, training, empathy, authenticity, and respect. The ability to sit with your storms without trying to escape them. This is what I offer. I cannot walk the path for you, but I can walk alongside you.

Have you ever been truly listened to - 100%?

In everyday conversations, we’re often only half-listening, waiting for our turn to speak. In person-centred therapy, it’s different.

Here, you are fully heard.
Maybe for the first time in your life.

You are at the heart of the therapy and treated as the expert on you - because no one else knows what it’s like to live your life. Your feelings are validated, gently explored, and sometimes compassionately challenged, helping you make sense of your thoughts, emotions, and choices.

A space to understand yourself more deeply.

A place to find clarity and move forward in a way that truly feels right for you.

If this resonates, you’re welcome to get in touch 💬

I offer a warm, empathetic, and confidential counselling space where you can feel secure and supported. A space where you can talk freely and feel heard, where your thoughts and feelings truly matter.
