Creating a comfortable, inviting environment, Mindful Self with me, Sandy Colman is here to help you with curing the mind of negativity.
Using mindfulness techniques with integrated CBT I am able to create personalised sessions whether it’s 121 sessions, staff/ business group sessions or school small group sessions for students.
If you are someone who struggles with difficult thoughts, maybe your depression is making you feel trapped, your anxiety is over taking you, or you need to get some things off of your chest and talk through things with someone who is open, understanding, non judgmental and will give you strategies to help with your difficulties, then I may be the person to help you.
As an overview: Your journey with me will start with a consultation so I can get to know the things your struggling with so I can start to put a plan together. Each 121 session will start off with a chat about how your getting on with things, we will then review the strategies that were discussed in the previous session and ending with mindfulness meditation to ease the mind and relax the body which will allow you to leave the session feeling refreshed and positive.
121 sessions are designed for all, you may attend sessions a few times a week, once weekly or bi weekly. After our initial consultation we will decide at that point how many sessions you will most benefit from. Clients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
As I understand that not everyone is able to leave their home for a 121 session, your session can be done over Skype, so if you work away a lot, or due to other home bound commitments or you feel anxious leaving your home, you will feel at ease knowing that you can still get help in the environment that you feel most comfortable in.
Staff/Business Mindfulness Meditation:
Much of our stress can come from our jobs. With high targets to reach, dealing with queries or complaints from customers who are unhappy, difficulties within the team your working with, a high demand to perform well or feeling like your “to do” list is forever growing.
This pressure can cause unwanted feelings and a sense of never switching off from your work life, not taking a break and not having any time for yourself. With this stress and anxiety caused at work along with a hectic home life, many staff end up suffering and businesses gain a higher rate of staff sickness.
As an overview: My staff mindfulness meditation sessions are aimed at easing stress and giving staff a break from everything. These sessions, taken during the working day are soothing and relaxing.
The staff group is gently guided through meditations which will give them techniques to use when feeling stress/ anxiety arising within them. Along with this the meditation sessions will allow the staff to be guided through self- love, self-worth and self-appreciation to give back to themselves and to leave the session feeling relaxed and the burden lifted from their shoulders.
School Mindfulness Meditation:
During the past several years it has become widely acknowledged that a large number of children heavily suffer with stress and anxiety. These emotions becoming elevated in social situations, the home environment and within the school setting with friendship circles, approaching exams and tackling difficult situations.
In light of this, as an intervention protocol over the past four years I have been working very closely with several schools including The Market Bosworth School, South Charnwood High School, Thomas Estley Community College, Lutterworth High School, Brookvale High School and Brookvale Groby Learning Campus to deliver mindfulness meditation sessions to groups of students who suffer from low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, anger and stress.
Results from sessions held with students has been truly astonishing! Gaining feedback from each school: students have been able to use my techniques during their exams to feel calm enabling them to perform the best they possibly can. Students have been able to use the meditations to stop them from self-harming and to take a moment to themselves before reacting to a difficult situation. They have also been able to manage their stress and anxiety better by being able to identify the symptoms and become more accepting.
As an overview: Each session starts with students writing a reflection about their week to express their current emotions and feelings that they are experiencing, after this I talk through the session so all students feel happy and comfortable before the guided meditations start: what its about and in what situation the guided meditation will help them with. All students are then guided through the session which has been created for them, taking them through a group personalised syllabus created by myself. Each session ends with a written reflection about the session, what they have learned and how they now feel. All sessions are reviewed with teachers and SLT’s.
