I’m asked every single day about how I, personally, can support new mothers & their families during postpartum 😊 (still pinch myself daily too)

Every postpartum doula brings their own unique magic, here’s how I put my love & care into the families I work with 🫶🏻

My mish is pretty simple - make postpwrtum@care accessible for all mums. Whether that’s through education & empowering you with my knowledge.

Or a heartfelt chat to answer your questions.

Or being right beside you with a s**t ton of food, healing hands & a listening ear 😊

Every single thing I offer is designed to honour mothers. Because, they deserve the absolute world. (Am I tearing up writing this? No course not 😭)

So, how can I best serve you? Tell me what you need & I’ll make it happen! ✨

🌿 Don’t forget to comment LIST if you want the holistic postpartum mum checklist 🌿

I posted a story recently with my placenta print in the background and had soooo many questions about it😂😅

Your placenta is sacred. It kept your baby alive. You grew a brand new organ from scratch. 🤯

It’s is not medical waste!! If you birth at a hospital, letting medical staff toss it (or keep it…IYKYK) is like discarding a masterpiece!

Eating it wasn’t for me, although I know lots of women who said they had good experiences with encapsulation.

The placenta is a part of you & your baby 🤗 It’s formed from yours and your baby’s cells, a perfect little blend of both your bodies!

If you’re birthing in a hospital & you want to take it home with you, tell the staff you’re bringing it home with you (they might give you some BS about signing a release form 🙄) & make something out of it!

I absolutely love seeing this print of my placenta and hang it proudly. My body did something really fu***ng cool and I love the little reminder 🫶🏻

And it’s always an interesting talking point when people see it 😄

Did you do anything with your placenta after birth? Tell me! Love hearing your stories 💕

Oh hello lovely new faces, thought it’d be fun to take a trip down memory lane and remember how Lauren of yesteryear ended up here 😊

✨ Life has a funny way of leading you exactly where you’re meant to be, whether you planned for it or not ✨

If you’d told me 15 years ago that I’d be living in the Yorkshire Dales, teaching pregnancy & postpartum yoga, guiding women through birth, and becoming obsessed with postpartum care, I’d have laughed. You alright hun?

I loathed the UK. I was scared of women. Never wanted to have children. And had literally NEVER heard of the term postpartum. 😂🫠

But somehow, the twists and turns, the unexpected detours, and the downright wild moments (many, many, many) brought me here.

What in the actual f**k. Amazing and insane.

I suppose it’s those unexpected pivots that help us find our true purpose.

✨ Life doesn’t always give you a neat roadmap, but if you follow the nudges, listen to your instincts, and lean into what feels right, you might just end up exactly where you’re supposed to be 🫶🏻

Wild trajectories. Pretty stoked you led me here. (If you could bypass the trauma next time though that’d be chill 😎 👍🏻)

Would love to hear all of your backstories and how you’ve ended up on this little page 🙌🏻🫶🏻👇🏻

🌿 4 baby’s born within my sphere in the last two weeks 🌿

🦋 Which of course means, 4 mothers born too 🦋

(Y’all were busy in February 😜)

✨✨✨Uncharted versions of themselves, the crossing of thresholds. I never tire of getting to witness it✨✨✨

Here are some words I hope every mother navigating these tender times gets to think & say & feel 🫶🏻

I have printable versions of these postpartum affirmations, if you’d like them just comment ✨ NEW & I’ll send them to you.

🦋🦋 Or tag a new mummy you know, who you think might need to read these 🌸😊

Turns out the aesthetic nursery didn’t come in handy AT ALL during postpartum 😂

I’ll do a practical items list of things you’ll actually need for postpartum soon, both for yourself and baby! It’ll be less than you might think 🫶🏻

What would you add to this list? 🌿✨

What did I miss? 👇🏻

Last night at pregnancy yoga we discussed The Fourth Trimester. The importance of protecting this liminal, scared time as mum & baby transition. It’s a cocoon that should be minimally interfered with (much like birth) ✨

So, this sometimes means asserting boundaries, that might be uncomfortable for most of us people pleasing folk 👋🏻

The things I’ve listed seem very basic & common sense but you might be surprised at the pushback some families experience when they try to establish these types of boundaries!

🗣️ No one is entitled to your baby, or your immediate postpartum experience. Not your parents, not your siblings, not your in laws. Unless of course, you’d love to have them there!

If you’re struggling to ask for what you need during this time, the people closest to you love you & generally want to honour & support you as best they can 🫶🏻

And if they don’t, hire a PP doula, we have no problem telling them 😉

Save & Share if you need a little reminder of the pp basics 🫶🏻

✨ WHY pregnancy yoga? ✨

Sometimes birth preparation looks like reading, listening and learning, reflection or ancestral work.

🌻 Physically though, yoga allows you to practice stamina, mobility and connection to body and breath.

🌻 Working through the challenges of changing centre of gravity, restricted diaphragm and stretch / bend ability.

🌻 Lightly maintaining the pelvic diaphragm to aid in spinal stability, pelvic organ support and allowing deep functional breathing to happen.

🌻 Gaining as much strength and agility as possible to keep pregnancy as comfortable and enjoyable as it can be. And to prepare your tissue for the marathon of birth.

🌻 Keeping your mind-body communication lines open in preparation for all the noise they will be making during labour and birth.

🌻 Letting intuition guide your practice, listening to the womb space, energy levels and your new and changing capabilities- in hopes that this connection will support the innate and primal understanding of the birthing process as you enter into it.

🌻 Preparing the mind to manage barriers, embrace sensation, stay present and in tune with your womb.

🌻 Having practices that will support you through mental, physical, spiritual and emotional challenges means everything.

✨ Yoga is a beautiful tool & practice to help guide you through this huge death and rebirth of self as you transition into motherhood ✨

My next pregnancy block starts Monday 15th in Skipton. It’s always such an honour to guide & witness each woman on her own unique journey ✨✨✨
