That’s right, men can get breast cancer too. Everyone has breast tissue and can be susceptible to breast cancer.
Research from Cancer Research UK suggests that approximately 390 men in the UK get primary breast cancer every year. It's really important that men feel comfortable checking themselves regularly and know to talk to their GP about any symptoms or changes they experience.
Five years ago, The Men’s Virtual Meet-up (VMU) was set up as an online space where men can talk openly and share their experiences with other men - to know that although breast cancer in men is unusual, they are not alone.
Today, the VMU celebrate their 5 year anniversary and we’re encouraging men living with primary and secondary breast cancer to join up: https://www.themensvmu.org
Next week is Men’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week so we’ll be sharing stories and highlighting information specifically for men living with secondary breast cancer.
