Why it’s vital for FloodSax alternative sandbags to sometimes keep water IN rather than OUT … and potentially save businesses vast sums in environmental fines.

FloodSax alternative sandbags are well-known worldwide for keeping floodwater out but many waste management companies now use them to keep water inside their premises.

They need to do this if there is an incident such as a fire or water leak inside their building which may have contaminants that could pollute nearby water courses if they seep into them, potentially leading to huge fines if they cause environmental damage.

FloodSax alternative sandbags played a vital role helping to tarmac a drive.
The unusual use of the world famous sandless sandbags came about when the driveway was being prepared in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
The hardcore was going down when it rained heavily and large puddles started to form from water flowing into the driveway from the road.
They needed drying up quickly before the tarmac arrived the following day so some FloodSax were put on the puddles which absorbed the water and then retained it. The FloodSax were then immersed in more water to absorb the full amount and used to build a protective layer to prevent any more water from getting onto the site and making the hardcore soggy and spongy

Met Office warning for heavy rain in the north and Scotland this week with the risk of gales hitting the UK at the weekend.
Gusty winds will blow rainwater into homes and businesses where there are weak spots in roofs and windows but any water that gets in can quickly be soaked up by FloodSax in their dry state.
To transform them into instant sandbags simply immerse them in water which they absorb and retain to become tough sandless sandbags.

Why the Government’s early warning mobile phone alert system will mainly be used for flooding.

But it also highlights the need for everyone to be responsible for their own flood protection because local authorities have no responsibility to provide sandbags or any other kind of flood mitigation.

The summer is quickly coming to end with wet weather on the way, according to the Met Office.

Low pressure is now moving in signalling rain and wind for the days ahead as the UK moves towards early autumn with a lot of rain forecast for the first two weeks in September.

It means the risk of flooding will be high with the rain landing on dry ground, not soaking in and so putting homes and businesses at risk.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Willington said: “Meteorological summer is ending on a wet and windy note for many with low pressure the dominant force for the UK’s weather.

“While many areas may welcome some rain after fairly prolonged dry weather, there’s a potential that over the next few days some parts of Wales, northwest England and western Scotland could see some impacts at times, which we’ll be keeping an eye on.”

A spell of more persistent and heavy rain is forecast on Saturday as an area of low pressure moves in from the southwest and tracks north-eastwards close to the UK. Accompanying this heavy rain will be some strong winds, particularly along coasts.

According to the Met Office: “Changeable and unsettled weather conditions are expected across the UK with low pressure systems tending to dominate the overall pattern. This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect the majority of the UK at times.

“Some heavy rain or showers are expected in places, most often in the west. Thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds if any deep areas of low pressure form in the vicinity of the UK.”

Plan ahead and protect your homes and businesses with FloodSax alternative sandbags which can be used outdoors to stop the water getting in and indoors to soak up any internal escapes of water.

FloodSax saved potentially thousands of pounds damage after an old lead pipe suddenly started leaking in a pensioner’s home.

Janet Tipton lives in Syston, Leicestershire, and always has a stock of FloodSax sandless sandbags after a serious flood in January 2024 caused thousands of pounds damage when a brook burst its banks, sending water into Janet’s house and nearby homes.

Now she has had to deploy the FloodSax solely for an internal leak.
She said: “The old lead pipe in my kitchen sprang a leak but I managed to prevent flooding by deploying the FloodSax.

“They absorbed all the water before I was able to turn off the supply and engage a plumber. The FloodSax did not leak and were easily disposed of at the local refuse site.”

British invention FloodSax alternative sandbags are always in action worldwide.
They were devised by Environmental Defence Systems based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, with around 3 million sold worldwide.
They have just saved a Canadian couple thousands of dollars in flood damage.
When water started to seep into their home in Alberta, Barbara McInerney simply dropped FloodSax onto the water which stopped it in its tracks by soaking it up.
It meant the water couldn’t spread and cause untold damage to floors, electrics, plasterboard and furniture along with fixtures and fittings.

A box of 20 FloodSax alternative sandbags only costs around £140 yet could save you tens of thousands of pounds in needless flood damage.

Summer thunderstorms are now an ever present threat across the UK with the continual risk of flash flooding.

The millions of gallons of water that comes with a heavy summer downfall means the water will hit the ground and then run off it rather than soaking in, putting homes and businesses at serious risk of severe flood damage.

That’s why it’s vital to be always prepared for flash flooding with FloodSax alternative sandbags as they take just minutes to deploy.

Local councils have absolutely no responsibility to provide sandbags and, even if they do, are highly unlikely to be able to deploy them in time when a flash flood is imminent.

Don’t leave it to chance and end of up with the terrible expense of severe trauma of being flooded.
