Our cheeky Elf enjoyed a special trip out before Christmas: A stadium tour of his beloved Birmingham City. Organised and assisted by the staff at Green Acres, it was a memorable day with a little record to take home as a keepsake.

Here at Green Acres weโ€™re always looking for rewarding experiences to enhance the time our service users spend with us. From museum visits to sightseeing, eating out to shopping trips, thereโ€™s always something in the pipeline!

Our first chair exercise and yoga session of 2026 was popular. There was no mention of working off any Christmas excesses, but our service users seemed keen to get back into the swing of things! We always โ€˜warm downโ€™ with some nice, gentle yoga stretches, which even the staff enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our staff have been working incredibly hard to make an early Christmas dinner for our service users, not just once but twice - to cater for the variety of different days our attendees join us.

All food preferences are catered for to ensure nobody misses out. We also have our festive Christmas lunch in our main cafe during the Christmas week. Itโ€™s fair to say that they go down well! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿงฃ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿคถ

Our arm and leg trainer uses assisted power to help improve mobility, circulation, coordination and strength. It can be adjusted to various speeds and has an optional harness to ensure safety and stability.

It is just one of the popular pieces of apparatus we regularly put to use at Green Acres to encourage reablement and rehabilitation.

As rehabilitation and reablement are among our priorities, our specially-adapted physiotherapy equipment is always popular. We have equipment purposely designed for leg and arm strengthening, plus balance, coordination and flexibility. Itโ€™s available to use for all of our service users, to support or enhance their existing therapeutic requirements.

This is our assisted arm and leg trainer in full swing.

Hereโ€™s just a small example of some of the amazing goods we have for sale, lovingly made and created by our dedicated staff and service users over the course of several months.

The craft activities are in full swing, but not just at this time of year, itโ€™s all year round at Green Acres!

A great deal of thought goes into the arts and crafts materials we have available at Green Acres, many of which have taken years to assemble and compile. We use them not only to create items for our fayres and displays, but also for service users to keep for themselves or as gifts for carers and family members. In addition, our creations carry an additional purpose - to encourage gross motor skills, fine motor skills, problem solving and mental stimulation, ensuring there is a therapeutic motive to our activities also.

We have a range of musical instruments at Greenacres and Park View, and we were more than happy to give one of our service users the opportunity to show off his skills! But thereโ€™s much more to it than fun and entertainment! Playing an instrument can provide a comprehensive mental workout. Its benefits include increasing problem-solving skills, concentration and coordination, while stimulating neuroplasticity, all of which are important for our stroke recovery service users. Just a little activity can go a long wayโ€ฆ.. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
