Friday December 12th—Board Games Night

After the SMART Swim session, why not keep the fun going? Come up to the YMCA and hang out in the lounge with your friends. We’re bringing a selection of board games, and you’re welcome to bring your own, so whether you like chess and backgammon, or Mousetrap and Monopoly, there’ll be something to enjoy!

Looking for something fun (and totally FREE) to do?
Join us for The SMILE Project, where we’re all about fun, friends, and getting involved in your community!
First Event: Dark Skies Glow Walk

Wrap up warm, and come explore the amazing Exmoor night sky with us! We’ll get lit with glow sticks and anything glowy you’ve got, and take a walk through the Exmoor Dark Skies reserve, followed by crepes and hot chocolate to warm up. It’s a chilled evening walk, a chance to meet new people, and a great way to kick off our SMILE adventures.

Time: Pick up at 2000, drop off at 2230

Today is Carers Rights Day. Every day, 12,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner, family member or a friend – many of whom don’t see themselves as carers, often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits. This year’s theme is ‘recognising your rights’ – the aim is to help carers recognise and understand their rights, and to access the support available to them, whenever they need it.

As a carer, knowing your rights empowers you with information about what you’re entitled to. This helps you feel confident asking for what you need, as well as challenging things when your rights are not being met – whether that be in the workplace or education, in accessing health or social care, or when interacting with other professionals or at home.

Solutions for Health, Education & Wellbeing Community Interest Company (SHEW CIC) provides connections, experiences and education across Devon and Somerset.

SHEW CIC was created from a desire to support local communities by delivering projects that are focussed on improving peoples health and wellbeing.

We have already delivered several not for profit projects in partnership with Simonsbath House, but to allow us to do more, we have decided to create a charitable organisation to further develop opportunities in the wider community.

Our mission is to EMPOWER our local communities, fostering a deeper connection to the natural environment and enhancing Health & Wellbeing for all.
