Another fabulous bunch joined our session today, lots of newcomers who settled in well and took hints and advice from some of our regular attendees 👌Great to see.
Today we found lots if shore crabs, beadlet anemones and 2 rather large velvet swimming crabs who did not want to be disturbed.....😉🤭
We did our best to find a lobster in the deeper pools but not today....🤷‍♀️ we tried scouring under the rock crevices with the end of the nets...but to no avail 😔

We enjoyed some free time making streams into the rock pools and searching for sea glass before finishing off with our smores 😋

What a fab first session for our summer beach schools 🌞👌
Everyone got along so well, helping, sharing and teaming up for some beach games and activities.
Found an abundance of shore crabs (big and small), a stunning beadlet sea anemone (found by one of our youngest attendees) and a butter fish 👍
We even saw the lug worms making their sand casts on the lower shoreline 👀 well spotted by another young eagle eyed explorer 😉

A hot day forecast tomorrow so if attending please bring a hat, sunscreen and a drink 😊

Just had the most wonderful beach school session with families, children and staff from Team Fostering
The wet didn't dampen our exploring and enthusiasm 🌫🌧 just challenged us a little 😉

Thank you to everyone who came along and for Rachel Dawson for organising it with the families 🙏 I'll see you again next week 🖐

Ready and raring to go for holiday beach schools starting tomorrow.....OK you will need
●a packed lunch
● a waterproof coat 🌧🤷‍♀️
● wellies or spare shoes for rock pooling 🦀🐚🪼
●hat/cap if sunny 🌞 and sunscreen applied

And a big smile 😀 👌

With some weather apps forecasting thunder over the next few days we just wanted to remind you:

In the event of thunder and lightning you just follow the 30-30 rule. This is when you start counting to 30 when you see a flash of lightning. If you hear thunder on or before 30 seconds then the storm is close enough for a lightening strike and therefore deemed too dangerous to be swimming in the water. You should then wait 30 mins after the last visible lightning strike to ensure the storm has fully cleared.

At present we are not planning to shut the venue, if the weather makes it unsafe we will close and of course refund tickets.

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to all the schools that have been onboard again this year with beach schools, Winter Warmer sessions and After School Clubs, your support means so much 🙏

Making learning come alive, giving them time to explore and taking away those 4 walls - sees children flourish and makes it all worth while 😊🙌🫶

It's been a blast SS Peter & Paul Catholic Primary School Marsden Primary School East Boldon Junior School Keelman's Way School Lord Blyton Primary School Barmston Primary and not forgetting the lovely StBenets of Fulwell 🙏
