Hello August! ☀️

In July we welcomed lots of lovely babies into the world and were very lucky to meet so many wonderful families, the infograms for which will be available in due course.

If your baby is due in August we look forward to meeting you soon!

Here are some fun facts for you if your baby will be born in August:
- Star Sign: They may either be a Leo or Virgo
- Birth Flower: Poppy and Gladiolus
- Birth Stone: Peridot, Sardonyx and Spinel

This month also holds National Breastfeeding week; keep your eyes peeled for lots of useful feeding information!

Last month a group of midwives and student midwives from around the country (and even across Europe!) gathered together to learn more about biomechanics in pregnancy and labour to help facilitate physiological birth 🤸🏾‍♀️

We had a great day moving our bodies, learning new tricks and tips, and sharing our passion to help birthing people. Keep your eyes peeled for implementation into practice!

Big thanks to the Optimal Birth team for hosting an informative and engaging day.

🚗 Parking Reminder 🚗

Did you know that you can buy a long stay ticket at a reduced price? This covers you for 7 days at a cost of £22. Simply ask one of the staff members on the ward for a parking form, then take this over to the Travelwise office (next to the general hospital) Monday- Friday between 9am and 5pm where you can purchase your long stay ticket.

Please remember to keep your original parking ticket and ensure you sort parking out promptly (where possible) as no refunds can be provided. There are signs posted around the hospital (as shown below) as reminders to enquire about this.

If you have just found out you’re pregnant, you might be wondering what to do next. You can self-refer to maternity services, without the need of a GP appointment. You will be seen by a midwife ideally before 10 weeks.
