⨠WHY DO I ITCH LIKE CRAZY WHEN I EXERCISE?! â¨
This is something Iâve personally wondered for years⌠For me, it shows up most when Iâm riding my bike đ˛
Especially when I start pushing harder⌠And weirdly â itâs always my inner upper arms. It gets SO itchy. Like⌠distractingly, âI need to scratch right nowâ itchy đ
And for the longest time I thought: âIs this just me?â âAm I having some kind of reaction?â But hereâs what Iâve learned đŤ
𩸠Itâs often circulation suddenly increasing
When you go from steady to intense movement, your blood flow ramps up quickly. If certain areas havenât had strong circulation, that surge can trigger nerve endings. That itching? It can simply be your circulation *waking up*.
Your lymphatic system is being stimulated. Movement (especially rhythmic movement like cycling) helps shift lymph fluid. If things have been a bit stagnant, your body can release histamine as things start moving⌠And histamine = itching.
đ§ It might not even be your skin⌠Fascia (your connective tissue) is full of sensory receptors. If itâs tight or underused in certain areas (hello inner arms đââď¸), that stimulation can feel intense at first.
đĽ I notice it most when I push harder. More intensity = more circulation, more stimulation, more nerve activation⌠(and yes⌠more itching đ
)
âď¸ Itâs often worse when Iâm cold too .
When your body is tighter and circulation is slower, that sudden shift feels even stronger.
⨠The reassuring thing For me, it: ⢠Peaks quickly ⢠Feels intense ⢠Then settles And over time, itâs become less noticeable. Which is usually a really good sign đ
đż What helps ? Warming up properly ⢠Building intensity gradually ⢠Staying hydrated ⢠Keeping consistent & mindful movement .
â¨The bigger shift for me was , I stopped seeing it as something âwrongâ⌠And started seeing it as my body responding. Waking up. Moving. Adapting. And sometimes that doesnât feel smooth at first.
đż Honestly⌠understanding this changed the way I see my body completely. And itâs part of why I do the work I do now. Because so many women experience things like this and immediately think something is wrong⌠When actually, the body just needs support, not fear.
This is exactly what I support my clients with inside my holistic therapy sessions đŤ
Using different therapeutic massage techniques , reiki, and reflexology,
I gently support your body back into balance â
honouring the intelligence and wisdom it already holds.
