The White Lily Centre

The White Lily Centre A gathering place for bereavement support, comfort and education. These include talks to local businesses and community groups, assisting at events etc.

The aim of The White Lily Centre is to provide free bereavement support to the people of Southampton and surrounding areas in the form of individual bereavement counselling, groups, education and social activities. We endeavour to work seamlessly with other agencies and organisations to enhance the much needed local provision for those who have experienced the death of someone close to them. The White Lily Centre is the culmination of a long-held dream of our founder and sponsor, Jonathan Terry. More than 20 years running his business as a funeral director had made him acutely aware of the need for affordable bereavement support in the Southampton area. When, finally, the opportunity arose to purchase a suitable property, Jonathan grabbed it and The White Lily Centre became a reality! The centre has two spacious counselling rooms, a large comfortable lounge and a meeting / café area, allowing the flexibility to provide one to one counselling and groups of various sizes as well as casual “drop in” sessions. It also acts as a base for organising a busy programme of social events and outings, as well as our community outreach activities. The rooms are also available for use by other, specialist bereavement support organisations by arrangement. Here at The White Lily Centre we have a small core team of staff, supported by an army of dedicated trainees, helpers and volunteers. We are truly grateful to our kind and compassionate supporters, without whom we would not be able to provide the services we do.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the families who joined us at our Christmas Remembrance Services held last week at St Patrick’s Church, Woolston. It was a deeply meaningful occasion, and we were honoured to come together as a community to remember our loved ones.

Our thanks go to Father Ross for the generous use of the church, and to Deacon Peter for leading the service. We are also very grateful to Toni Nunn for her beautiful singing, and to everyone who took part in the services, as well as those who worked behind the scenes to prepare and support the evenings.

Thanks to your generosity, the retiring collection raised £1,847.63, which will be donated to Mountbatten Hampshire. We are truly appreciative of your kindness and support.

As we remember those who are no longer with us, we hope this Christmas season brings you comfort and peace. From Jonathan and everyone at Jonathan Terry Funeral Directors, we wish you a peaceful Christmas.

At this time of year, light holds a special meaning. It guides us through the darker days, brings warmth to our community, and reminds us that love and memory continue to shine even when someone is no longer with us. That is why our Christmas Remembrance Tree at Peartree Avenue now glows so brightly — each light a symbol of a life cherished, a moment remembered, and the love that continues to shine on.
