Oh my gosh!!!!!!! 6 weeks into her training programme and my client is getting jaw dropping results and deserves a massive shout out!! đŸ€© she’s KILLING it and I couldn’t be prouder of her hard work and dedication!!

These photos are just 1 MONTH apart!!!

What we’ve done:
1) Entered a calorie deficit while ensuring BALANCE! No foods are off limits, she’s celebrated her birthday during this time, eaten out with family and friends and still eating carbs & chocolate.

2) Focusing on high PROTEIN - to ensure she feels fuller for longer, and importantly this is helping her recover from her workouts and helping her to build muscle at the same time as dropping body fat.

3) 3 strength training workouts per week. Not endless cardio sessions leading to exhaustion, but sustainable progressive overload to ensure that she builds muscle while dropping body fat - this is what is giving her body shape and more ‘tone.’

You can’t achieve long term results with extreme restriction and dieting alone. This is where rebound fat gain happens and often loss of muscle mass, which is damaging to metabolic health.

I visited my 91-year-old grandma today.

And honestly, reaching 91 is incredible.

But watching her struggle with small everyday things like putting clothes on a hanger reminded me how important muscle mass is as we age.

Muscle isn’t about aesthetics.
It’s about independence.

Being able to stand up easily.
Carry your shopping.
Walk confidently.
Live in your own home.

The sad truth is many women were told for decades to avoid lifting weights.

But the real risk isn’t getting bulky.

The real risk is becoming fragile.

Strength training is one of the most powerful things you can do for your future health — physically and cognitively.

Don’t chase fat loss, before developing self respect.

If you do, you’ll never achieve the confidence you’re looking for, no matter what the number says on the scale. Trust me, I’ve been there. At my smallest, I still wasn’t confident in my body, because that’s all I fixated on at the time.

Set some immediate goals - commit to them, and by Friday you’ll be feeling the self confidence and self respect you’ve been longing for. Because true self respect comes from showing up for yourself, and fulfilling the promises you make to yourself. Not from a number on the scales.

In fact, what you’ll actually find is that self confidence will flourish long before you reach your goal weight - it’ll happen on the journey. Love yourself at every stage - when you commit to making changes from a place of self love, rather than punishment, the game changes. Your mindset changes. And you’re much more likely to stick with it week after week đŸ’•đŸ«¶đŸ»

I used to think I was just obsessed with food, my cravings were constant. Constantly hungry, shaky between meals and exhausted no matter how much sleep I got.

It got so bad I ended up hospital for glucose testing because my symptoms were affecting daily life.

I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycaemia where blood sugar crashes too low. These energy crashes felt scary.

And do you know what no one told me at the time?? That muscle is one of the biggest regulators of blood sugar in the body.

Muscle tissue stores glucose. The more muscle you have, the better your body handles carbs. The less dramatic your crashes become.

As I stopped chasing skinny and stopped overdoing cardio (which actually paired my muscle down!) and stopped under-eating - and instead focused more on strength training and building muscle - my symptoms improved more than I ever expected them to.

Metabolic health isn’t about eating less. It’s about having the tissue that can handle fuel properly.

If you’re constantly tired, crashing, and blaming yourself
it might not actually be your willpower - but lack of muscle.

You’ve been taught fat loss starts with eating less.
It doesn’t (and it’s why your previous diets have failed you over and over long term).

It’s not because you failed - it’s because the approach was never going to lead to you keeping it off long term!

Long term fat loss starts with building muscle first.
Because when you build muscle: your metabolism improves, you burn more calories at rest, your shape changes (no more skinny fat), and fat loss becomes so much easier.

The reason crash diets ‘work’ short term: you lose weight fast - but a chunk of it is muscle! Your metabolism adapts and slows, and fat comes back easier.

That’s why I focus on strength training first.

The photos in this carousel are just 3 weeks apart, and I’m already 2.5lbs down - with only a very small manageable deficit (no starving or restricting around here - I’ve still had a holiday where I ate off plan, I still had pizza once a week, and chocolate every single day. No extremes. No cutting out food groups. No hours of cardio.
