Have you been invited for cervical screening?
♥ We’d love to hear from you! ♥
Cervical screening (previously known as a smear test) checks the health of your cervix and helps prevent cervical cancer. It saves around 5,000 lives every year.
Everyone with a cervix aged 25 to 64 is invited for screening every 5 years. Invitations are sent by letter, text message, or through the NHS App.
We’re running a short survey to understand:

How you felt when you received your screening invitation
What helps or motivates you to attend
What makes attending difficult
How we can make screening easier, more comfortable, and more accessible

Your feedback will help improve cervical screening services across Essex and support others in getting the care they need.
The survey takes around 8–10 minutes to complete.

I was prepping for a newsletter and editing this photo taken from one of our Southend Supports Breastfeeding Drop-in's at the wonderful Hang Out Venue Ltd
and it made me think about how this really is what Southend Supports Breastfeeding is about, community, peer support, normalising and connecting with professionals during those times where something crops up that feels really tricky.

Thank you to these wonderful parents for letting me capture a natural and lovely moment in time.

Our friendly health visiting team are at Child Health Clinics every day of the week. Book your appointment on 01702 534911 and come along to get your baby weighed and talk about anything concerning you.

Between 0-6 months it's recommended to come along to clinic once a month so your baby's growth can be monitored.

Remember to bring your red book! See you there ☀️

Tiny toes and toasted teacakes! ☕️🍞

I had the absolute pleasure of supporting this gorgeous 11-day-old boy and his parent today. While we worked with our fantastic Health Visitors to get their breastfeeding journey on track, there was also a very important side mission: fuel!

Breastfeeding is hard work, and that "nursing hunger" is real. Nothing beats a hot coffee and a toasted teacake to keep a mama going. Moments like these—watching a family get the support they need while sharing a quiet snack—are exactly why I love my job. 💙
