Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️🩹
Relationships are work, it’s a partnership, a life shared together where you support each other, mutually grow and push towards your individual and joint goals.
Then there’s love, that ineffable feeling and most powerful emotion. We all show love differently and short of explaining love languages it’s beautiful. It’s appreciation, it’s celebration and it’s adoration.
To feel loved, significant and special is fundamental to who we are as humans and sometimes we lose sight of that. It is important to give that and find that love within yourself and for yourself, this best positions you to share it in the most profound and positive way.
In no way am I saying that’s an easy path and that’s ultimately what I do for a profession now, I help people understand that who they are is special, is unique and is beautiful and to really feel that. You deserve to feel that way! I remember when I would read these words and think “that’s bullsh*t”, “that’s unattainable”, “that’s wishy thinking” and you know what, to an extent it is wishy thinking! But life is mental and what you believe to be true, is true, subjectively and to you personally. What is so important to recognise is that that story, the one you have told yourself for so long, CAN change. Your mind and perception can literally change. It’s hard to conceptualise when is hasn’t happened for you yet and many people go through their lives stuck in a narrative that was never true in the first place. Our story’s are littered with mistaken beliefs and we tend to focus on and inflate the negatives.
You are a new person today, you are a different person from yesterday, now you face a choice. The choice is to maintain the same or to change the story, that story running on auto pilot in your subconscious, guiding your choices beliefs and truths. If that story is helpful and positive there’s no reason to fix what isn’t broken, but It can always be improved.
I guess what I’m saying is today I find myself reflecting on my own journey, my own struggles with mental health and my education in psychology. It’s a work in progress and it will be forever, if I choose to stagnate or to believe I have all the answers there is no growth and growth is also a fundamental need for humans. I will always be hungry to learn, to best support my clients but also to grow personally.

My question to you on Valentine’s Day is not how is your relationship with a significant other, it’s how is your relationship with you?
And there’s something else I want you to know and I mean really know because I promise you it’s true! If that relationship with yourself is toxic, if it’s unhealthy, if it’s unbalanced or you’re having feelings of shame, guilt or self-loathing because of that story and programming that continues to run in the background. I promise you it can and will change, just take the brave step to ask for help, it’s available to you.
Asking for help is not weakness, we are a community species and asking for help is strength.
Whatever your circumstances, I hope today is beautiful for you!
Love you! 🥰💝🫶🏻
