I've been a little quiet here lately. Firstly, because I'm knackered, secondly because I'm tired with being dictated to by algorithms, and thirdly, I have a few changes to the business that require a slight relaunch in the next couple of weeks ... all to be revealed very soon.
So, instead of nails and beauty features, it's a garden update! This bay tree faces West and blocks the evening sun. So today, out of the blue like I do, I decided to hard prune it back to fence level. It really opens up the horizon. Now, to spend the rest of today, kicking back, relaxing and enjoying this glorious weather ... unless another out of the blue idea takes over!

We all lead busy lives, I get it. It's so easy to get sidetracked, or have the time of your slot incorrectly in your head and turn up an hour late. I've turned up for a hospital appointment a month early because I misread the date on the letter!!
But the impact missing your appointment has on a small business is huge. Our biggest overhead is time. You book a space that we reserve, especially for you. If you don't turn up, we don't get paid. You then rebook and take another space. In reality, that is a buy one get one free.
Salon profits are pared to the bone, and we can not survive like this. Imagine if every single client did that in a month, we'd go bust pretty quickly.
Salons have a cancellation fee. It's very hard to ask a regular client who has never let you down to cough up in fear of losing/ upsetting them. It leaves us in an awkward situation. So please, do the honourable thing and offer it before we have to ask you.
In short, imagine this, you turn up for work and they tell you you're not needed and not being paid. It's the same thing. It's bloody tough on personal finances.
