Three years ago today, we opened the doors to Jones Family Funeral Directors for the very first time. From a childhood dream, to ten years of fighting to get funding, it finally became a reality ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Our goal from the start was to offer our services at the cheapest possible price, whilst always giving our highest possible standards. To make this possible, we wanted to make sure that the public weren't charged for services that we dont agree with, such as, out of hours services, visiting your loved one in our Chapel of Rest, and collecting ashes from the Crematorium. We also wanted to change the way that Direct Cremations were carried out, by allowing peoples loved ones to be dressed in their own clothes instead of a gown, for families to be able to visit their loved in our Chapel of Rest, and for the family to be able to follow us to the Crematorium and watch the curtains close, giving families that little bit of closure. We still do this today ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

As we end this post, we wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to every single person who entrusted their loved one into our care over these past three years. Without you, we wouldn't still be here. People didn't think we would last a year, let alone three years, but here we are ๐Ÿ˜

Happy 3rd Birthday to us ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‚

Hereโ€™s to all the funeral directors whoโ€™ve been melting in full attire โ€” top hats, frock coats, waistcoats and gloves , while still delivering the highest levels of professionalism for families.

๐ŸŽฉ To all those funeral directors whoโ€™s powered through the heat this year โ€ฆ.. we salute you ๐Ÿซก

What a morning we have had today...

We had an early start this morning due to having a funeral at 10:30am, however, we received a call at 9am from our Carriage Masters to say that he was stuck in traffic in Abergele, and that he wouldn't make it to our branch on time. He then said that he would sort something out for us and to bear with him. He phoned another Funeral Directors to ask if they could assist, and thankfully they could. This Funeral Director got one of their Hearse's out of their lock up, got a member of staff, and got to us within half an hour of being asked to help, which is amazing!

Even though we had a terrible start to the day, we just wanted to thank Brian, who is our Carriage Master, for working so quickly this morning and sorting out a Hearse for us. We also wanted to thank Stephen Johnstone & Son Independent Funeral Director for helping us out and borrowing us a Hearse, and finally, we wanted to thank Stephen's staff member; Keith for giving up his time and helping us at our Funeral. It is very much appreciated ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Today is National Grief Awareness Day ๐Ÿ’œ

At some point in our lives, we will all be impacted by grief. And yet, it's still something so many people don't talk about or have misconceptions of.

We wanted to share some reminders for National Grief Awareness Day- are there any you would add to this list?

If you need support, you're not alone.

Every time we see something negative in this industry, we are truly shocked and saddened ๐Ÿ˜” What this woman did was absolutely despicable, and we are glad that she has now been banned from working with all NHS hospitals and mortuaries in Leeds. This will at least protect families and their lost babies in the future ๐Ÿ’œ The Funeral Director in question has spoken out since, and has stated that the claims are "ridiculous!" In our opinion, the NHS don't just ban people from working with them for no reason.

The only advice we can give you all, is to always do your research before choosing who will look after your loved one. You might have an idea on who you would like to use, but we would still recommend checking everybody out first and then making your decision. Also, always look out for the SAIF (SAIF independent funeral directors)/NAFD (National Funeral Directors Association) logo as this shows that the Funeral Business is a member of a governing body and that they follow strict codes of practice.

Zoe Ward tells the BBC of her experience with a funeral director who has since been barred from wards.

I'm not sure how I feel about this...I know that every keepsake is precious, but taking a piece of your recently passed relatives skin and putting it in a frame is a little bit too much for me.

What are your thoughts? ๐Ÿค”

Such a lovely poem/story about Rainbow Babies, and the ones that were lost before them ๐ŸŒˆ

Iโ€™m 1 in 4.
I saw two pink lines.
And then I watched them vanish.

No bump pics.
Just blood, silence, and a pain no one talks about.

I was expected to โ€œmove on.โ€
But how do you move on from someone you never even got to hold?

I mourned a baby I never met.
I grieved a future I had already fallen in love with.
And I did it quietly, because the world doesnโ€™t know how to hold space for loss this small, but this heavy.

But... sometimes after the storm, comes a rainbow.

National Rainbow Baby Day is August 22nd.
Itโ€™s a day to honor the little ones born after loss.
A day thatโ€™s both joy and grief woven together.

For every rainbow baby, thereโ€™s a storm that came first.
For every celebration, thereโ€™s a heartbreak that lingers.

So when you see us celebrate our rainbows, know this:
We are also remembering the ones who never made it earthside.
We are loving two babies at once...
The one we lost, and the one who brought color back into our world.

Today is National Rainbow Baby Day ๐ŸŒˆ a day to celebrate rainbow babies, and remember the babies that were lost before them.

But what is a Rainbow Baby?

A Rainbow Baby is a baby born after a pregnancy loss, such as a miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. The name comes from the fact that a rainbow appears after a storm, so for parents, the new baby is the rainbow after the storm of losing the one before.

Just a little insight into the amount of work that goes in to making every single coffin that we get from Steve Soult Limited. It is truly remarkable what they all do, and the turn around is just amazing.
