My name is Andrea Price, I am the Midwife lead for the Stop Smoking in Pregnancy service in Staffordshire provided by Everyone Health, commissioned by Staffordshire County Council. We provide a 12 week course ran by our kind, caring, compassionate, non-judgmental team of fully trained Stop Smoking Practitioners. The service provides weekly support and FREE nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) posted out to your home. Here at everyone health we're committed to busting any myths around stopping smoking in pregnancy
Smoking has been linked to a smaller baby due to oxygen deprivation. This can lead to a risk of worse outcomes in labour. There is no evidence that smaller babies make for easier birth.

Its a common thing you hear from grandparents etc "I did x,y,z in my pregnancy and they were fine", but there are lots of things we don't do now because we know it's harmful. For example we no longer prescribe Guinness to improve iron levels.
Quitting smoking is well documented now to be the best preventable thing you can do for a healthier pregnancy.

Our stop smoking in pregnancy service doesn't actually stop supporting you after you give birth. We support the whole household for up to 6 months after the end of any pregnancy.
To get support with quitting smoking using out combination of behaviour and free ni****ne support please call 0333 005 095.
