Have you ever noticed how stress doesn’t just live in your thoughts — it lives in your body?

In this gentle Wednesday morning class, we combine Pilates-based movement with somatic awareness and breath to help release tension, improve alignment, and calm the nervous system.



🌸 The Body’s “Holding Place”

Deep within the body is a muscle called the psoas — a key muscle for posture, walking, and spinal support.

It also plays a role in our stress response.

When life feels busy or overwhelming, the body naturally tightens to protect itself. Over time, especially with lots of sitting and little release, this tension can settle around the hips and lower back — affecting:

• posture
• lower back comfort
• breathing
• feelings of restlessness or fatigue



🌿 Why Gentle Movement Matters

In Breathe & Align, we don’t force stretches or push the body.

Instead, we use:
✔ slow, supported Pilates movements
✔ somatic cues to encourage natural release
✔ breath awareness to signal safety to the nervous system
✔ guided relaxation therapy at the end

This allows deep muscles like the psoas to soften in their own time, improving ease of movement and overall wellbeing.



🌸 A Moment of Stillness (Somatic Rest)

One of the simplest and most effective practices we use is Constructive Rest — a position that allows the body to settle and realign naturally.

🕊️ Sometimes the most powerful change happens when we stop trying and allow the body to reset.

Tomorrow is ‘Well-being Wednesday’ 🤍
If your body feels a little stiff, your shoulders are carrying too much, or your mind just needs a pause… this is for you.

Tomorrow we’ll move gently from top to toe using chair-based Pilates — improving posture, alignment, core strength and joint mobility — and we’ll finish with deep relaxation to help your nervous system settle.

This class offers the same thoughtful benefits as my Chair Pilates, with the added support of the mat and floor work:

I’d love to introduce you to my daughter Sophie 💛 She has just finished her A-Levels and, like many 18-year-olds, isn’t quite sure which direction to take next. So she’s stepping into a gap year — and we’ve decided to make it a creative one!

Together we’re launching a brand-new, clean candle company called ‘Be Still & Glow’ 🕯️🌿.

Our very first creation — and signature scent — is Be Still: a soothing blend designed to bring calm, rest, and a sense of peace into your space.
