As a training practice, the Resident Doctor Strike means our appointment availability for the next three days is limited.
We are prioritising your appointment requests that require urgent GP assessment, and thank you for your patience and support.

Resident doctors are on strike from 7am on Wednesday 17 December until 7am on Monday 22 December.

Please only visit the emergency department for serious, life-threatening cases – when someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.

If it is not an emergency, please use other options such as visiting a pharmacist, contacting your GP or visiting NHS 111 online.

Catch up flu clinics are now running for children who have missed their school vaccine. You can call Intrahealth on 03333583397 to arrange an appointment.

Alternatively, walk-in flu vaccination clinics will be running across our area for school-age children (reception to year 11) who have missed their school vaccine, and for children aged 2–3, giving parents the opportunity to get all the kids vaccinated in one visit.

• Together, our small actions add up to big impact.

🌿 Day 6 – One Health: Protecting humans, animals & the environment

🐾 AMR doesn’t stop at people. It spreads through animals, food, and the environment — that’s why the One Health approach matters.

💚 What you can do today:
• Choose responsibly produced food (antibiotic-free when possible).
• Dispose of unused medicines safely — never flush or throw them away.
• Support policies that protect our water, soil, and ecosystems.

Together, we can keep our world — and its future generations — safe from superbugs. 🌍

🧠 Day 5 – Knowledge is power: Learn and share

📖 The more we understand antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the better we can fight it.

Resistance develops naturally, but misuse and overuse of antimicrobials speed it up — in humans, animals, and even crops.

💬 Today’s challenge:
• Take 5 minutes to learn one new fact about AMR.
• Share it with a friend, family member, or colleague.
• Encourage them to do the same.

Small conversations can create a big wave of awareness 🌊.

The theme reminds us that AMR isn’t a distant risk—it’s happening now. Global action needs local commitment.

• Host a short discussion about how your setting (home/work/organisation) can support responsible antimicrobial use.

When antimicrobials are used incorrectly—such as taking them when not needed or not completing the full course—it weakens their effectiveness.

📌 Today’s commitment:
• If you’re prescribed antimicrobials, follow the instructions fully—even if you feel better.
• Talk to your health-professional: Ask if the medicine is really needed and what you should expect.

🗣️ Spread the word: “My choice matters.” Protect existing treatments so they work when we really need them.

🧼 Day 2 – Prevention is power.

When infections don’t respond to treatment because of resistant microbes, simple illnesses can become serious.

💡 Ways you can help:
• Keep up with good hygiene – wash your hands regularly, stay up to date with vaccinations.
• Avoid getting ill – healthy habits protect you and help reduce the need for antimicrobials.
