So often it's expectations that are the root of our stress⁣

Expectations of ...⁣

➡️ Of ourselves ⁣
➡️ Of other people ⁣
➡️ Of situations⁣
➡️ Our future ⁣
➡️ Our past ⁣

And / or assumptions of other people's expectations. ⁣

💫 Take a current situation or person that is causing you stress. ⁣

What are the expectations you have of that person, yourself and the outcome? ⁣

Firstly, are these expectations realistic and fair? And secondly, have you shared these expectations with the people involved? ⁣

Being aware of exactly what your expectations are and why, can really help you to understand why the situation is getting to you and from there you can decide if you...⁣

✨ Have unrealistic expectations ⁣
✨ Need to actually communicate your expectations ⁣
✨ Are being triggered by past situations and unhealed wounds⁣

⭐ The more extreme a personality trait is, the more likely it is to be a double edged sword - sometimes useful and sometimes not ⭐

➡️ What are your top three strongest personality traits?

➡️ List out how these push you forward and all the advantages they bring, and then do another list detailing how they hold you back or cause you stress.

For example, being a strong empath is wonderful for knowing how other people are feeling and therefore providing others with the response, space or healing they need, but being a strong empath can also be extremely overwhelming and you can get confused about what's your 'stuff' and what's not, possibly resulting in stress, anxiety, burnout, exhaustion and a lack of identity.

Being highly ambitious is amazing at focusing on what you want and achieving goals, being dedicated to your craft but on the other side can be detrimental to relationships, your health and having a balanced life.

Knowing your extremes is so important when managing your stress and anxiety because without fail they will be tangled up in there somewhere!!!

Something to try when you're feeling a bit cr*p...

When you're not feeling how you want to feel due to stress, hormones or low energy, it can really help to decide on some rules for the day.

To do this, write down a list of...

➡️Things that help and things that don't help
➡️Mindset and thoughts that help and those that don't

For example, some of my past 'rules for the day' include

✅Today is not a day for focusing on efficiency
✅I need to remember that this will pass
✅I'm not going to keep wondering why I'm feeling like this because it's not helping
✅Today I am going to allow myself to feel sorry for myself
✅Today I'm going to expect less from myself
✅I need to wear loose clothing
✅I'm not going to make any final decisions today
✅Today I'm going to be dramatic and that's ok
✅Today I need to work and move systematically
✅I'm accepting that I feel small today

💫What will help you today and what will make you feel worse? Write them down and then figure out a realistic list of rules for you to have today.

Giving yourself permission is a powerful thing 🙏

It's about what works for you

If it was about what works for most people, stress management and healing wouldn't be an issue.

You'd meditate every day, do yoga, go to the gym, set healthy boundaries, eat well, drink water and sleep 8 hours, practice self care etc etc.

But most people who come to me have tried at LEAST half of these stress management techniques and are still struggling with stress, overwhelm, tension etc.

The sweet spot is finding your own techniques, things that to someone else may seem insignificant or even a bit weird, but it works for you.

This is a big part of the work I do; digging into what ACTUALLY works for you rather than what you THINK works for you, or what you've been told SHOULD work.

Forget conventional, it's the weird and wonderful individual tools and tricks that you've probably been overlooking that really matter 💫

Phone usage 📱

This is something that comes up with nearly everyone I work with when we're healing their stress.

Phones are not awful; they are SO fabulous in so many ways, but it's finding the point that they tip over from being useful and fun into an addiction that takes us away from our families, our bodies, our motivation and I know this sounds dramatic but it's true - our joy.

This tipping point is different for everyone so it's really useful to do a phone usage audit on yourself.

You may not know the answer to these, so don't change your phone usage for the next few days and just gather this data so you can make properly informed changes.

✨ What do you want to use your phone for? Be completely honest here - no one's checking your answer!! List all the things you enjoy using it for

✨What do you NOT want to use your phone for? Why?

✨Do you feel guilt using your phone? If so, when?

✨How long can you be on your phone until you start feeling like the life is being sucked out of you and you're on autopilot?

✨What do you want to be doing instead of using your phone?

✨How many times in an hour do you look at your phone (including checking for notifications!!). A useful one here is to start a tally - it's so interesting! Just mark down every time you either tap your phone to check for notifications or pick it up to use it.

✨ What are the three main things you want to stop or change about your phone usage? Why?

If you have the time, take a minute to write down how you feel about your phone usage - no right or wrong here, just start writing!

Ok so from these questions, what are three definite action points you're going to commit to putting in place for the next two weeks?

Important point...don't push your action points onto someone else!!!!

If you think someone you live with could benefit from changing their ways with their phone, send them this post or copy the audit questions and ask them to fill it out themselves; whether we like it or not we're all in a relationship with our phones and just like any relationship they're all different with different needs and wants and boundaries.

Who we are, what we believe, how we react, how we behave and the decisions we make are all affected by the experiences we've had in our lives.

Sometimes this works in our favour.

Sometimes it doesn't.

The sweet spot is to recognise how our past is affecting our present and our future.

If it's serving us, then fabulous! But if you're feeling stuck, frustrated, wondering why you keep getting the same blocks in life, there's a pretty massive chance something from your past isn't serving you.

We all need a spring clean in our beliefs and assumptions on a regular basis; what beliefs do you need to process, release or manage right now to help you move forward?

This August I'm offering a slightly different massage; 75 minutes of soothing, healing massage to reconnect you to the flow of your body and your internal rhythms rather than constantly reacting to the push and pull of the external world.

I'll be using pressure, sound, breathwork, awareness, movement and energy healing to bring your body and mind back into balance so your energy can flow freely.

This is a gorgeous treatment for anyone experiencing tension, tightness, heaviness, overwhelm or disconnect from their body.

If you'd like to book in for this August special, pop a comment below or message me and I'll send you the link x

A huge part of managing and healing your stress is having time and space to understand what's happening in your internal and external world. ⁣

This doesn't have to be hours at a time or an entire room you can dedicate to yourself (but if this is possible for you ABSOLUTELY!!!!)⁣

It could be a section of a room, your own chair, a place in nature, time in your car, carving out your own time on a regular basis- even 10 minutes where you are completely alone. ⁣

Just some of the benefits of having time and space alone...⁣

✨ Help you regulate your nervous system ⁣
✨ Connect to yourself ⁣
✨ Recharge⁣
✨ Not having to manage anyone else's emotions or energy ⁣
✨ Practice putting yourself first⁣
✨ Processing situations, emotions and life in general ⁣
✨ Just 'being'⁣
✨ Not having to manage yourself to make anyone else feel more comfortable ⁣

And if you don't prioritise this time and space, you know when you'll start processing? At night when you're trying to sleep. Because this is the only time you've stopped and given your body and mind time. ⁣

❓ How often do you get time and space to yourself? ⁣

❓ Do the people you live with have their own space?⁣

❓ If you don't already have your own space, how can you realistically create one? ⁣

Please don't underestimate the importance of having your own space - especially if you're an HSP, introvert or an Empath!!💫⁣

Celebrating the end of our beautiful women's circle this year, thank you to the six awesome women who were part of it, showing up as their whole selves and sharing the wins, the struggles and the deep self reflection.

We moved through six themes over three months;

⭐Boundaries
⭐Self esteem
⭐Self care
⭐Energy management
⭐Values
⭐Identity and moving forward

Using talking, journalling, movement, yoga, breathwork, meditation and healing to support the journey and finishing with a deeply nourishing Cacao ceremony last night to reflect on our journey and close the circle.

The women's circle was started three years ago to bring women together and share our deepest thoughts, fears and goals in a safe, caring environment where you are truly heard and seen.

I'd like to set you a challenge for the week. ⁣

Every morning (or the evening before if your mornings are frantic) ask yourself what is one thing (at least!!!) that you can do today that will make you happy. ⁣

This could be anything from having a cup of coffee and listening to the birds or dancing to the radio to calling a friend and having a catch up or finishing work early so you can go for a walk, or something bigger like booking a night away or even BIGGER to applying for a new job or booking onto that training course you've been wanting to do. ⁣

The 'thing' is up to you, it doesn't matter what it is. It can even be the same thing each time. ⁣

Commit to just one thing every day, big or small that makes you happy.⁣

For seven days. ⁣

If you're up for this challenge, type one thing you're going to do, or just put an emoji below to make that commitment to yourself. ⁣
