I have just been thinking about spring herbs, and am reminded of the use of fresh dandelion leaves to control blood sugar.

Well, the snowdrops have already heralded the start of spring and I am always relieved when new signs of life start to arise. There is such mayhem going on on our gorgeous planet that I keep my fingers crossed every year. What a delight it is to watch the spring for another year.

It's spring, and our Jing Fang Family is expanding - it is an exciting process to be growing a JIng Fang Classical Chinese Herbalism School. What a privilege to work with these amazing people and with these incredible plants that help us be well.

The snowdrops are here! I can well and truly feel the super-strong energy of wood rising in myself right now, and want to shout out loud and burst forth. And when we harness that energy, connecting together with each other, what a powerful opportunity we have to create something amazing. I can feel....

Today is Chinese New Year, the year of the Water Rabbit. Even though it seems this year should be calmer than the water tiger year we have just experienced, astrologers tell us there are constellations that predict huge changes. We shall see. I am working on this: whatever it brings, I welcome it!

Wow, Chinese New Year is early this year! 22nd January. We have moved from the Year of the Water Tiger into the Year of the Water Rabbit. Speaking as a Water Tiger myself, I have just experienced the most incredible year. Two amazing things have happened. The first is that our Jing Fang school (Scho...

Here in the heart of winter, we are thinking about herbs to warm and nourish us at this time of year.

So here we are mired in the heart of winter. The shortest day has gone past, and another Christmas celebration has been and gone, but the sun does not seem yet to be coming back. So what about warming herbs, to warm and nourish us at this time of year? In winter we can think about

We are delighted to announce the formation of our new governing board. We are very lucky to have Berny Sebe, Alexander Evans and Mark Preston as well as myself, Frances Turner on the board. I very much look forward to working together over the coming years.

As we go through the accreditation process for UK Chinese medicine trainings with the EHTPA (European Herbal and Traditional Practitioners Association) we have created the support of a fantastic group of governors. Berny Sebe lives in Oxford and is one of our long-term patients. He swears by Jing Fa...

This year we are delighted to welcome a new teacher, Vasanthy Watt. Vasanthy has been working as a herbalist for over 30 years, and in the last few years has added Jing Fang to her skills. She is very open and generous person, and it is great to have her on board. Welcome Vasanthy! I hope you enjoy your first teaching day on November 7th.

Halloween seems a good time to think of those who went before us, and a good opportunity to show our gratitude to the people who have so generously shared their knowledge with us. A huge thank you to Dr Feng Shi-Lun and to his teacher Professor Hu Xi-Shu for this amazing system of Jing Fang Classical Herbalism, to Suzanne Robidoux for her tireless work for Jing Fang, and to all my apprentices and students for all your enthusiasm and support.

Well, here we are at Halloween again. This is a festival to celebrate those who have passed on and is a time when the veil between the worlds is supposed to be thinnest, thus we can communicate more easily with those who have departed. This year I would like to take this moment to express my

As the Jing Fang Apprenticeship year starts, I am reflecting on how I came to set up this Chinese herbal medicine training that is quite revolutionary both in its content and in its structure. If you’re interested, check out the blog ‘Sometimes magical things happen in life’.

I was going to call this blog ‘Apprenticeship, a new approach Chinese herbal medicine teaching’ but then I realised (a) how academic that sound and (b) that this is really about how magical things happen in life. While I was running the herb course at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (...

A big welcome to our apprentices old and new as the new Jing Fang Apprenticeship academic year begins. We look forward to sharing our knowledge of Jing Fang Classical Herbalism with more acupuncture practitioners, so that they can use Chinese herbs to help their patients get healthy.

Our Jing Fang Apprenticeship teaching clinic in Cholsey, South Oxfordshire, runs every Monday, prescribing Chinese herbal medicine in the classical style to patients. We are so lucky to have a beautiful leafy venue to work in, just by a park but also just near the station, and right in the middle of the country, so very accessible.

In our blog ‘A gift from the universe’ you can read the story of how we came to be living and working in this extraordinary place.

Today I thought I would share the story of how we got to be teaching and practicing in this beautiful leafy venue in South Oxfordshire, and how the space to create the School of Classical Chinese Herbalism and the Jing Fang Apprenticeship began. The first miracle The story of how we found this place...
